Are you high? Even if the play had been called back, Texas has the ball on the Trojan 11-yd line. On the next play, Vince Young scores a TD anyway.
With the other 'blown' call (the interception by Texas), USC would have lost possession of the ball. That is far more severe than giving Texas another chance to score eleven yards out.
Exactly. The assumption that USC would have stopped Texas from scoring a TD after that "down/lateral" play at the 10 or 11 yard line -- when they couldn't stop Texas all night long -- is utterly silly.
Seriously! Not just on the 11 yd line but 1st and 10 on the 11. No, it's not guaranteed but the likelihood of VY scoring a TD with 4 chances from the 11 would have been about 99%. There were other blown calls , too but what about the blatant holding by USC? It was ridiculous!~
