~ The FReeper Canteen Presents ~

Modern Times:
What are your predictions for 2006?

Welcome to the FReeper Canteen!

Next Wednesday we'll begin a new exciting series: The Canteen Kids will begin doing threads for our Troops and the Canteen!! So? Don't miss out the chance to see the next generation of Canteeners do their thing!!

As for this week, we shall return to an old favorite!

Your Opinions Please

Main Topic:

What are your predictions for 2006?

Examples follow below:

1. The Cubs will win the World Series and tomkow will be forced to take a bath. (*snicker*)

2. Reggie Bush, of USC, will become the second most popular Bush in the state of Texas.

3. Our Troops will continue to get the job done at home and abroad.

4. Congress will yet again give themselves a raise. Just goes to show that creating a lot of hot air will eventually pay off.

5. MoJo will still hate eating tofu.

6. hotstreak will still hate eating cheese.

7. Outside of winning the World Cup, most Americans will still ignore soccer as a whole.

See how this works?

Rules:

1. No
politics!

2. Keep it funny, but remember this is a family site.

3. Graphics and pictures are great to share.

Before we leave you, The FReeper Canteen, Mr.Tonkin, and MoJo would like to thank Spotsy for doing the Pancakes on Wednesday when someone was needed to fill in. She did a fabulous job. Despite having limited time, she made sure that our Troops had a thread every Wednesday. Thank you Spotsy! Don't stay gone too long!!

Have at it folks!!

It was early morning at the military base, and the first sergeant was calling out names for the daily work parties listed on a piece of paper:

"Ames" "Here!" "Jenson" "Here!" "Jones" "Here!" "Magersky" "Here!" "Seeback"

No answer.

"Seeback!"

No answer was heard again.

"SEEBACK!!!" The troops remained totally silent.

At that point, someone whispered into the first sergeant's ear. He looked again at what the last name really said, quickly turned over the list and continued calling the names printed on the other side.

The Knight and the Archer looked for adventure
deep in the twilight's gloom,
they walked in the night, while leaving the light
and the warmth of the old inn's room,

They walked very soft, their eyes cast aloft
at the sliver of moon in the sky,
and looking around, whilst making no sound
through the fields as they passed quickly by.

As soft as a breeze moving leaves on the trees,
the pair made their way through the wood,
when out from the dark, a light like a spark,
came a-dancing around the Knight's hood!

The Knight was entranced by the glimmering dance,
but the Archer, she knew what this meant,
and flashing her dirk, with a twist and a jerk,
to the shadows the glimmer she sent.

The Knight shook his head as though rising from bed,
and asked, "What was that did I see?
The elf's voice came crisp, "That was Will-o'-the-wisp,
but that pixie can never fool me."

"The blade caused him pain," the elf did explain,
"For forged iron is not of this earth,
and its strength comes from others, and if Will has his druthers,
he would stop it with all that he's worth."

The Knight thought on this, and watched Will-o'-the-wisp,
flitting far and away in the trees,
"That something so small can be harmful to all
and to hurt others just as you please..."

"Just as the rain falls on hill or on plain,
it's not good nor evil - it just is."
Saying that, Knight and Archer began their march, o'er
lands just cloaking in mist.

Your jokes are cracking me up today, LJ!

Let's try another, then.

A filthy rich man in Scott, Louisiana decided that he wanted to throw a  party and invited all of his buddies and neighbors. He also invited Boudreaux , the only good man in the neighborhood.

He held the party around the pool in the backyard of his mansion.  Everyone was having a good time , eating shrimp,  crawfish, oysters, boudin, cracklins, and BQ. At the height of the party, the host said, "I have a 10ft man-eating Gator in my pool and I'll give a million dollars to anyone who is brave enough to jump into the pool with that Gator"

The words were barely out of his mouth when there was a loud splash and everyone turned around and saw Boudreaux in the pool! Boudreaux was fighting the Gator and splashing around! Boudreaux was jabbing the Gator in the eyes with his thumbs, throwing punches, head butts and choke holds, biting the Gator on the tail and flipping the Gator through the air like some kind of Judo Instructor.

The water was churning and splashing everywhere. Both Boudreaux and the Gator were screaming and struggling in the pool. Finally Boudreaux
strangled the Gator and let it float to the top like a K-mart goldfish.  Boudreaux then slowly climbed out of the pool. Everybody was just staring at him in disbelief.

Finally the host says, "Well, Boudreaux, I reckon I owe you a million dollars."

"No, that's okay. I don't want it," said Boudreaux.  The rich man said, "Man, I have to give you something. You won the bet.  How about half a million bucks then?"

"No thanks. I don't want it," answered Boudreaux.  The host said, "Come on, I insist on giving you something. That was amazing. How about a new Porsche and a Rolex and some stock options?"

Again Boudreaux said no.

Confused, the rich man asked, "Well, Boudreaux, then what do you want?"
Boudreaux said, "I want the name of the guy who pushed me in the pool."
