Random kidnappings. Daily exchanges of gunfire between police and armed militants. Different neighborhoods patrolled and controlled by competing militias.
It appears as if Gaza has degenerated into anarchy.
In just the past 10 days in the 146-square-mile territory (about twice the size of Washington, D.C.):
- Three Palestinian government offices were occupied by gunmen.
- Armed militants detonated explosives in a United Nations club.
- Three British nationals were kidnapped at gunpoint.
- An Italian man was abducted.
- Two rival families unloaded weapons at each other in a personal dispute.
- A Palestinian police officer was killed in a shootout between police and militants.
- The Palestinian-controlled border crossing was shut down by police angry at the death of their colleague, prompting European Union monitors to leave.
- Palestinian police took over government offices in their continuing protest.
- Israel launched air strikes on suspected terrorist targets.
Gaza was not supposed to turn out this way.

Yet, how much diplomatic activity worldwide is devoted solely to addressing their "grievances"?
They fight the Jews. Outside of the United States, they are likely the most admired mob (posing as a people) on Earth.

"Two rival families unloaded weapons at each other in a personal dispute."
Just Arabs being Arabs. Fortunately, most are pathetic marksmen.

Actually I meant "Palestinian" with the quotes. But you knew that.
Curious: American lefties are screaming that Iraq is a failure after three successful elections, yet Gaza is just a sad example of growing pains, or something.

Why am I not amazed?
After the disengagement, and the subsequent looting, I told a friend the Palis were going to make New Orleans look like a (no pun intended) backwater town.
Am I clairvoyant or what?

...not supposed to turn out this way These are ALWAYS the famous last words that come from Liberal lips everytime one of their theoretical pet projects collide with reality and the end result is a total unmitigated disaster.
What is sad is that we will have to clean up the fu$ken mess AGAIN!!!

They remembered that the IDF fired some rockets into Gaza but forgot that it was at the launch pads for the Artilery attacks against Israel they "forgot" to mention.
I guess CNN got some Arabs on staff, even in reporting the failure of peace deals in Gaza they gotta snipe at Israel.

Yeah, but the Paki's brought nuclear gifts, the Palestinians only bring insurrection. No slimer dictator wants that.

What do you do at CNN when the "militants" are Hamas, the duly elected representatives of "the people" and the "police" are Fatah, the old dictators? Now they have to call the militants police, and the police militants!
They have some humdinger of an identity crisis at the MSM offices now. Still in Gaza, the blood runs in the streets in an ever increasing tide, in the great success story of the biggest peace deal in decades by our State Department.
If we paid politicians for performance, we would have a budget surplus as the State Department politicos would all have a million dollar negative salary.
