I see nothing shocking in the things Churchill considered, if one is aware of the times. Hitler was bent on wiping out England and teh rest of the Western democracies. He almost succeeded. And indeed Hitler was the epitome of evil. Did the Nuremberg trials really make a difference?

Just one more reason he deserves to be remembered as the Man of the 20th Century, imo.
Bruised and battered, he arose from the ashes of defeat to battle and beat sworn enemies.
For that, we can all be grateful.

That's a lot nicer than me, I'd have wanted Hitler sent to the woodchipper.

Winston was a man of honor. Historians mostly have treated him with kindness, as is right so. God placed him in the right place at the right time. To think otherwise would be folly. It would be hard to see who else would have better served the British during those long dark days. And where he had no delusions about Stalin, Roosevelt fell short.

Reading through that I wonder what the writer's motives are. Did he want us to feel sorry for Hitler and to despise Churchill? Sure seems that way.
I guess the new wave of anti-Semitism in Europe has given birth to a pro-Nazi press right there in England.

Exellent idea . . . they could have sold tickets.
These days we can sell Obama bin Ladin on pay per view when he takes the needle.

But what if he had written a children's book and warned kids about joining future Hitler Youth gangs?

California was using the cyanide gas chamber by then. I'm sure they'd have gladly have accommodated Hitler if Winnie had known to ask. That said...I think the suicide thing worked out just fine.

"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." -- Winston Churchill
God bless Mr. Churchill.

>>>"Churchill, like "W" today, understood the stakes"<<<
I only hope that fifty-one percent of us understand.
We have lost our Leaders... shy of 51% the only thing left is rebellion, protest etc etc etc MSM won't / can't / doesn't care about the Country or us, our elected Representatives have become such a spineless bowl of jelly and yet still get re-elected, so without 51 percent we are screwed.
I never want to live like the PETA, MADD, or FOE disciples so I just have to have faith in the 51%.
Or I just Hope that our Leadership can Evolve a Spine, learn how to Lead or find new employment, any one of which would improve the future.

Churchill was equally dismissive of Gen Charles de Gaulle, one of Britain's closest allies, who he believed suffered from "an insensate ambition" and who was the "greatest living barrier to re-union and restoration of France".Speaking of electric chairs...

Churchill, like "W" today, understood the stakes. Churchhill understood that all of the civilized world was in danger and was willing to take any and all steps necessary to safeguard it.
W understands that all of the civilized world is in danger and is willing to take baby PC steps to hopefully slow down the long-term destruction of it.

Liberals would complain that Churchill was not nuanced enough and tended to see things in terms of black and white. He should have realized that the Nazis were just making a cry for help and that we needed to discover the root causes of their problems. Sarcasm, I hope obviously.

The liberals would defend hitler if he was alive today.
They'd say "This poor, misguided gentleman was lead into his life of crime by his poor unbringing, stress, and emotional problems. He needs therapy!"
Dumb leftists. Now, I'm off to clean my bayonet.

Another aparent attempt to discredit one of the great leaders of the west. The idea is that if you discredit the messenger and you discredit the message.
