LONDON -- Maybe it was jumping on Oprah's couch.
Or perhaps it was his testy interview with Matt Lauer on NBC's "Today" show, or his constant expressions of love for his fiancee, Katie Holmes.
Maybe it was all of those things combined that prompted British movie fans to name Tom Cruise the most irritating actor in Hollywood.
Cruise was found to be more annoying than Jennifer Lopez, Julia Roberts, Adam Sandler or Jim Carrey.
Britain's Empire magazine surveyed 10,000 movie fans.
But while Cruise may annoy them off camera, they still like his movies. They named him the greatest movie star of all time.
That's some tough competition. Although Sandler doesn't do anything bad offscreen...he's just annoying on screen. My list would include George Clooney.
i'd pick jerry lewis, fran drescher, streisand, keanu reeves, and bette midler as most irritating actors/ actresses.
cruise and streisand would only win for their off-screen irritations.
Mel Gibson in Braveheart created an all time great movie.
Short needy guys like Cruise tend to often get cranky.
Braveheart... The Passion... and coming next summer: Apocalypto!

War of the Worlds was not a disappointment at $234 million--not counting the TV, DVD income. And it just happens to be Cruise's #1 box office movie, ever.
Some here have called WOTW a "disappointment" by claiming the studio thought it would make more, but that's simply not true. It's Cruise's biggest hit--you simply can't argue it's a sign of failure.
Last Samurai made $111 million--again, that's only theatrical income, not TV or DVD. Ditto with the $132 mil on Minority Report.
Talking great roles is one thing--a matter of opinion--but since Eyes Wide Shut (at $55 mil on a Kubrick budget, far from a disaster), economically speaking, Cruise has had SEVEN films make over $100 million, and three of those made over $200 million--something his movies hadn't done before EWS.
I'll take that level of "failure" any day.
who's the most annoying in that image?
I'd say it's a tie.
Don't forget Pia Zadora, Paris Hilton, Rosie O'Donnell,
Warren Beatty, Danny Glover, etc..
Weegee, you're glib. ;)
Good list, Im adding Ben Afleck.
Genna Davis too. unggh

I understand the history of psychology! YOU DON'T!:)
He is better looking than me so Im keeping him on my list.
Its hard to look at Cruise the same way after him using Oprahs couch for a trampoline in the name of love.
Hardly.
"Nominated three times for an Oscar, Cruise has never taken home the coveted statuette, although he has won three Golden Globes for his performances in Born on the Fourth of July (1989), Jerry Maguire (1996) and Magnolia (1999). However, he has also won a Razzie Award as Worst Actor for Cocktail (1988)".
He's past his prime..

Definitely your weakest point is you tried to rehabilitate Eyes Wide Shut in some fashion. The movie was boring (great director had lost his mojo) and it was definitely a financial, artistic and critical flop. Actually I dig the trial scene at the orgy, with all the masks. Good sound and imagery. Otherwise a loser.
Typical--you don't like the facts, so you start with a snide crack. I couldn't care less about Cruise. I haven't seen most of his movies. I just like it when people talk about facts, as opposed to what they wish were true. But if you wanna be snide, I can be snide, too. I'd just prefer to discuss facts.
If you knew the first thing about movie economics you'd understand why. And in facvt you misrepresented what I posted--I showed the numbers WITHOUT those additional streams of revenue, and they're STILL big hits.
Still they were not blockbusters in the theatres.
Yup--seven movies making over $100 mil and two of them over $200 mil aren't blockbusters. Please, stay out of the accounting business.
You're certainly correct that he's made lots of money, but I hold to my opinion that Minority Report, etc. sucked as movies.
Who cares? That's your opinion, you're welcome to it. Apparently you've seen more of his movies than I have, and yet you say *I* like Cruise. Little projection there? Ashamed of seeing all of your buddy Tommy's movies? (Why would you keep seeing all these movies when they all suck? Are you compelled to see Tommy's movies?)

Your need to distance yourself from your love for Cruise movies is really odd. (Almost as odd as your enjoying an orgy scene in some Cruise movie.) I made one quick comment about EWS--that it wasn't a total box office disaster. This seems to have disturbed you for some reason. Our opinions on these movies do not matter when we're discussing whether Cruise was ruined by EWS--which was your original point, remember? He wasn't--thanks to people like you, who claim to dislike him, yet pay to see all his movies in secret.
You claimed Eyes Wide Shut ruined Cruise. In fact, he's become even more successful than ever before since EWS. You were wrong. Case closed.
LOL!! He's not coming out. Plus he is in the annoying cult. Yeah, I said cult. Sue me!
