OK, new thread for the next week.
First, a big shout out to the SETI members who have added CPUs to the effort. Remember, its Team 36120, NOT Team 0.
Next, congrats to all for bumping our team up to 104 processors and 76 users. We have a number of new users in the team, with Clara Lou, fzx12345, SamfromLivingston, brityank, manwiththehands and Tami all popping onto the hit list this week.
Malsua, uriah and Ken in Texas are solidly in the top 10. Malsua is continuing to add systems and now accounts for 10% of the FR total. Great job!
Free Republic Folding@Home Stats Page
On the global front, Free Republic Folders is now listed at # 1196. We are poised to overtake (today):
carletonu (maybe in MN?)
Helms-Deep
2*ian
Dynadues
Soluchis
Greece and soon the
University of Pennsylvania!
We were passed by one team, SISD. My guess is that this team really is the computers of an Independent School District that were all "volunteered" to fold over the holidays. They are producing points at a rate of 37,000 points per day. As we gain members from the 100,000 FReepers that visit JimRob's place I expect that we will have a much greater long term growth than them.
Yep! ;-) I've got three other machines running the client too, but they're SLOW and probably won't show up for another day or so. :-)
I expect a lot of good quotes to come out of DUmbie attempts at techwar with us. After over a day of trying to join their team, one of their brighter bulbs determined that it "[s]ounds like you need computer programming and science skills."
Don't forget, these folks think they should be calling the shots governing the most powerful nation in history...
What does GL stand for? If it's one family, maybe they could all contribute to the same user account so it'd be high up on the list. :)

I just got tired of chasing through the thread to find links... and I'm too stubborn to bookmark 'cuz I never find them anymore :)
Oooh, nice, thanks.

Hey that's pretty! Marie Antoinette here, enlisting another machine under my husband's alias :)
Sorry, we don't have a throng of robo-processors, these two will have to do! As long as it doesn't mess with his simulator, it's all good.
papasmurf - That's awesome! Looking forward to seeing all those GL's show up on the stats page.
Klutz Dohanger - thanks for pulling all those links together
I'll start a new thread tomorrow (top 1000, baby!!!) and we can repost them there.
I've been experimenting with one of my dual cpu machines. If I set the affinity to just one proc. and set the priority to realtime on that one proc., I reduce my frame time by 10-15%.
So, the next thing to try, is two wu's on the same mp box.
:O)

As of the 6pm CST update... the FR folders are:
#7 in the active climbing teams for the week
#4 in the active climbing teams in the last 24 hours
#121 in average weekly points (from team start until now)
#89 in points today
#112 in points this week
#1041 in overall points
#1320 in number of work units completed
We should pass Dean for America, around noon tommorrow, and we're ontrack for cracking the top 1000 tommorrow afternoon, and reaching a quarter million points by new years eve...
Lots of newcomers, and once their pc's start getting on the scoreboard, a 20,000 point day isn't unthinkable for the team. That kind of production would get us into the top 100 within a couple of months.
** We're not stopping, until we beat DEFAULT:ANONYMOUS, whoever the hell that is :)
Where can i find stats for active climbing teams and ranking for average weekly points, etc..
Having a wireless network is worth every penny! I've even got a wireless printer server so that my printer is in one room away from everything else.
Hey, that's GREAT (about the new team members, that is).
Thank you for helping us keep focus on what this project is really about-it's not (only) about getting high rankings, it's going towards scientific research. I had no idea that truckers suffered such high rates of cancer. Why is that?
Awesome! I tried looking for more "competition"... searched at first, then decided it'd be easier to just scroll through the teams we've not beaten yet. ;-)
There are quite a few teams that would love to beat us, fark and slashdot, but I found only 2 explicitly left-wing teams.
- Humanists, Atheists and Freethinkers (yes, there are a lot of Freeper atheists, but "humanist" is code word for "Marxist")
- Preteen Girl Lovers (if there are any right-wing preteen girl lovers... we'd shoot them. I hope, at least. LOL)

First, click on all teams list (on the left menu)
The menu items at the top of the listing that now show, are sortable, just click on one of the categories, like 24hrs...
Ever eaten at a truck stop? Even hidden under a lot of ketchup, you can still detect the lingering taste of diesel fuel...
Actually, I grew up eating at truck stops, and while there are some VERY GOOD ones, with good food, they are far outnumbered by the number of greasy spoons..
Someone should do a study on it someday, but my common sense tells me that it's a combination of lifestyle.. mostly sedentary (even though driving is hard work, you're not really working that old cardiovascular system), Diet, ie, the truckstops, and more junk food, than is normal.. who doesn't know about "road food" --- ever read what's in that package of beef jerky you're nibbling on?, and then you have the fumes and the ever present hydrocarbons of being on the highways almost 24/7.....
I'm sure Papasmurf can tell many more stories than I can, but I know of two truckers, who almost asphyxiated themselves, in the sleeper cab, which is right above the idling engine... trying to catch a few hours sleep so they can meet the log book requirements....
Folks with a Dell Inspiron 2650 have to download and install the driver from this link. Worked like a charm...it only took me 3 hours to find it!!!
It doesn't show up under Dell updates OR Windows Updates OR Device Manager updates!!
and it would have taken someone 30 seconds, to link it under 2650 support... I LOVE dell's, but their website leaves a lot to be desired.
(Hope you don't get tired of the "newbie folder" gush!)
We can make it into the Top100. We just need to continue to add new team members
