"While You Were Sleeping"
by Casting Crowns
Oh little town of Bethlehem
Looks like another silent night
Above your deep and dreamless sleep
A giant star lights up the sky
And while you're lying in the dark
There shines an everlasting light
For the King has left His throne
And is sleeping in a manger tonight, tonight
Oh Bethlehem, what you have missed while you were sleeping
For God became a man
And stepped into your world today
Oh Bethlehem, you will go down in history
As a city with no room for its King
While you were sleeping
While you were sleeping
Oh little town of Jerusalem
Looks like another silent night
The Father gave His only Son
The Way, the Truth, the Life had come
But there was no room for Him in the world He came to save
Jerusalem, what you have missed while you were sleeping
The Savior of the world is dying on your cross today
Jerusalem, you will go down in history
As a city with no room for its King
While you were sleeping
While you were sleeping
United States of America
Looks like another silent night
As we're sung to sleep by philosophies
That save the trees and kill the children
And while we're lying in the dark
There's a shout heard 'cross the eastern sky
For the Bridegroom has returned
And has carried His bride away in the night, in the night
America, what will we miss while we are sleeping
Will Jesus come again
And leave us slumbering where we lay
America, will we go down in history
As a nation with no room for its King
Will we be sleeping
Will we be sleeping
United States of America
Looks like another silent night
"Does America have room for God?"
YES. (The anti-God, anti-God media and the ACLU
will not understand it. They look elsewhere for their
answers.)

CHRISTMAS
http://www.truthusa.com/CHRISTmas.html
My daughter and I were listening to her new Casting Crowns CD and when we heard this song it touched us both so much...I thought it would be nice to share this song on Christmas Eve...
I pray that all of you have a very Blessed Christmas and that those of you that live in America, take the time to appreciate how blessed we are to live in a Country with religious freedom.
Thanks Cindy. Merry Christmas!
Christmas blessings to you Jan.
Merry Christmas!
But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these. For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 2 TIM 3:1-7
Hi Jan, Merry Christmas!
Lucky daughter! Got a gift a bit early?
I got the new Switchfoot and Barlow Girl (>blush< did I admit that?) CDs from a friend. Haven't gotten the chance to listen to them yet, but it seems I have to go get myself the new Casting Crowns one, too! Their lyrics sure hit the mark!
Merry Christmas!
Thanks, Merry Christmas to you, too.
I love the Henry V speech. One of my favorite passages ever written in the English language.
The last paragraph of Dubliners, by James Joyce, is also one of the most beautiful passages in the English language, in my opinion.
What an terribly pessimistic song.
I have faith that our sons and daughters will find a way to get it right.
It's so inspiring. Branagh delivered it beautifully, except for one nitpick...he should have grinned slightly and delivered "with advantages" perhaps as a bit of an aside; it's one of the most fun lines in the play...one more bit of humour in the middle of the rousing speech, and he just ran right over it.
The last paragraph of Dubliners, by James Joyce, is also one of the most beautiful passages in the English language, in my opinion.
Hmm...I wasn't really fond of it, but then again, I'm not a big James Joyce fan. I'd say it is powerful and melancholic and moving, perhaps, but I thought the paragraphs leading up to the last also were that way. But the chill of the snow comes through even stronger if I think of the passage now, while I glance outside at the white gleam in the dark night. :-)

Your screen name reminded me of this verse...
There was the true light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man.
He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.
He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him.
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, [even] to those who believe in His name,
who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 1:9-14
It is GREAT to see you, Hill of Tara!
I didn't see it that way at all Glenn. It seems more like a wakeup call to me. I like songs by Casting Crowns because they make me think. Many combine faith with action, and reflect the love Jesus taught, rather than the "religion" the Pharisees and Sadducee's preached.
" As we're sung to sleep by philosophies
That save the trees and kill the children"
Those words do bother me, but they are true!
Liberalism and secularism, with the assistance of the ACLU and activist judges, are waging a war in this Country that many are still not willing to acknowledge.
I agree with you that our sons and daughters have the ability to "get it right."
The time is now...
Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men, but as wise,
making the most of your time, because the days are evil.
So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
Ephesians 5:15-17
Merry Christmas Glenn. Have a Blessed day!
Merry Christmas Jan!
Have a wonderful day with your family!
Jenny
