You did great w/Rush today. I'm sorry your parents are so difficult. I can't imagine calling my son 'stupid,' no matter what his political beliefs.
You sound like a thoughtful young person. Don't be afraid to de-lurk and post.

Welcome, RT.........we were listening to you this afternoon and i for one was extrememly impressed with your composure and ability to say what you wanted to say. It's a shame there is no debating team at your school.....you would be a huge asset.
Merry Christmas.

Welcome, Justin. You want to sharpen your debating skills? You have come to the right place. If you have any other conservative friends, have them check out FR. They are NOT alone...not by a long shot.

Hey Justin -- it's cool that you're a Freeper. My 17-year-old daughter just signed up a week ago. She asked me where I learn all the political stuff I'm always spouting off about. I told her to start lurking here and next thing I know, she actually registered. I think her user name is conservativexcore or something...
Anyway, welcome!

Hi, RealTeen,
You had a great conversation with Rush today. I have a lot of Democrat friends who disagree with me because they think that they are comkpassionate (with government ie, taxpayers' money) and conservatives are grinches. One good argument against this perception is just to ask them why the Welfare Reform Act was so successful in the 1990s. President Clinton signed it the third time it was sent to him (and now takes credit for it - that's okay.) There only 1/4 as many people on welfare as there were in the Nineties - which means that a lot of people have learned what it feels (good liberal word) like to be productive, instead of dependent. These new workers have helped our entire country to be more productive.
If that argument doesn't do anything, ask them to explain how democratic compassion has helped the residents of New Orleans, Baltimore or Detroit to name 3 cities that have had democrat administrations ever since the War on Poverty was started in 1965.
Tell them that true conservatism does not see people as groups but as individuals who are worthy of respect. Part of that respect is an acknowledgement that if they are asked to act like adults they are more likely to do so, then if they are excused of all their immature behavior.
