Boxer Impeachment Letter
Boxer senator online ^ | 12/19/2005 | Barbara Boxer

Posted on 12/19/2005 6:48:51 PM PST by stocksthatgoup

Boxer’s letter is as follows:

On December 16, along with the rest of America, I learned that President Bush authorized the National Security Agency to spy on Americans without getting a warrant from a judge. President Bush underscored his support for this action in his press conference today.

On Sunday, December 18, former White House Counsel John Dean and I participated in a public discussion that covered many issues, including this surveillance. Mr. Dean, who was President Nixon’s counsel at the time of Watergate, said that President Bush is “the first President to admit to an impeachable offense.” Today, Mr. Dean confirmed his statement.

This startling assertion by Mr. Dean is especially poignant because he experienced first hand the executive abuse of power and a presidential scandal arising from the surveillance of American citizens.

Given your constitutional expertise, particularly in the area of presidential impeachment, I am writing to ask for your comments and thoughts on Mr. Dean’s statement.

Unchecked surveillance of American citizens is troubling to both me and many of my constituents. I would appreciate your thoughts on this matter as soon as possible.

Sincerely,
Barbara Boxer
United States Senator

Kyl was good on Laura Ingraham tonight. But you know the "usual suspects" like Spector, McCain, Graham et al will be out there foaming at the mouth.

Isn't the real crime here that she is getting legal advise from John Dean.

Yeah, we take the hat trick out here: Boxer, Pelosi, and Feinstein. Not to mention Maxine Waters and Barbara Lee. It must be something in the water. On a happier note, I wrote to Boxer reminding her that if she wants to impeach presidents for warrentless surveillance, she's going to have to start with the dems' idols, FDR, Carter, and Clinton, before she ever gets to Pres. Bush.

The technology to monitor and intercept are pretty much the same thing.

Haul them to court and try them for High Treason. Same thing. High Treason can warrant the death penalty.

She would be one of the Congress-critters who belonged to the second most corrupt Congress (according to her leader, Harry Reid).

Like that spin?

Kyl was good on the floor today too. The RINOs will be their usual mealy mouthed selves. And that will finish Graham in South Carolina.

Well Senators and Congressmen are out today saying they were not briefed - from both sides of the aisle. The FISA Act gave him 72 hours to get a warrant, at this time it doesn't seem that they got any warrants. Gonzales is out today saying that Congress gave them the power when they authorized the "war" in Afghanistan.

I agree heads will roll.

See you in Toledo?

Lessee.. once a country-western DJ opined about Tanya Tucker: 'she put the you-know-what back in Country'.

"Just don't understand how they can continually elect old no morals gasbag's to office."

Numbers. There just aren't enough of us - the whole damn state is about 3/4 dems; the few coastal cities (liberal ratholes, all of them) have millions more people than the more conservative central valley and San Diego areas. Heck, we couldn't even pass the initiative that would require that notice be given to parents of a minor who's going to have an abortion!

Yes but it still requires the 72 hours to ask for a judge to issue a warrant and "the advice and consent of the Senate" (who knows for sure what that means other than if you don't ask they get pissed). The Senate thing is a stupid clause but it's there.

That was more of a rhetorical question. I knew she was that stupid. But I just had to hear someone else say it, also.
