Boxer Impeachment Letter
Boxer senator online ^ | 12/19/2005 | Barbara Boxer

Posted on 12/19/2005 6:48:51 PM PST by stocksthatgoup

Boxer’s letter is as follows:

On December 16, along with the rest of America, I learned that President Bush authorized the National Security Agency to spy on Americans without getting a warrant from a judge. President Bush underscored his support for this action in his press conference today.

On Sunday, December 18, former White House Counsel John Dean and I participated in a public discussion that covered many issues, including this surveillance. Mr. Dean, who was President Nixon’s counsel at the time of Watergate, said that President Bush is “the first President to admit to an impeachable offense.” Today, Mr. Dean confirmed his statement.

This startling assertion by Mr. Dean is especially poignant because he experienced first hand the executive abuse of power and a presidential scandal arising from the surveillance of American citizens.

Given your constitutional expertise, particularly in the area of presidential impeachment, I am writing to ask for your comments and thoughts on Mr. Dean’s statement.

Unchecked surveillance of American citizens is troubling to both me and many of my constituents. I would appreciate your thoughts on this matter as soon as possible.

Sincerely,
Barbara Boxer
United States Senator

What is the phrase about if you strike the king make sure you can kill him ....If serious they have to first take out Cheney.

I think Republicans should play it up and dare them to impeach Bush just like they dared them to immediately withdraw from Iraq

Yeah, the support jumped. All the impeachment would do would reveal the bloodlust in the democrats eyes, and would make them vulnerable to attack by the right.

yes, but still, this can't be ignored. I don't believe this is just some "trial balloon", the left is going to run with this as a coordinated effort. remember, the left doesn't look at a poll and say "no way the american people are going to support impeachment of Bush". they look at it and say - "hey, if we can pump enough disinformation and convince X% of the sheeple of this, we can make a move here".

If Dems get control of house and senate in 2008 (unlikely), impeachment of the POTUS will get priority above all else.

2006.

yes, you are right - for all these freepers talking about sitting ou the 2006 election, they ought to realize exactly what you posted - if the Dems get Congress back in 2006, impeachment machinations against Bush will commence.

The stunt will backfire -- most Americans support the President's actions.

Not only that ... But they like living and don't want the terrorists to attack us again

The democrats are trying to stop these wiretaps that could prevent more attacks ..

The Dems are saying that the Terrorist who want to kill my children have more rights then I do

HEY DEMS ... YOU DON'T PLAY POLITICAL GAMES WITH MY KIDS LIVES!

They would have to get over 2/3 the House to agree on it. And there are some states in the union that would most definitely not vote for the democrats.

Well, this makes me feel much better.

If Barbara Boxer is leading the charge, you know that there is nothing to any of this, and it is all a bunch of idiot hyperventilation. Barbara Boxer is a walking Seal of Stupidity. Anything that she associates herself with winds up coming to nothing.

How the good folks of California keep electing her time after time boggles the mind...

I agree it can't just be ignored. The only way it will happen is if the Republicans don't stand up for him and lay out the facts in press conferences, etc. We have to make phone calls and be activists or the spineless Republicans won't take it seriously.

I wrote to her. I put the topic under Homeland Security and Letter to Scholars. It came up as issues not in sync. I put it as Middle East topic and it was accepted. I pointedly asked her to publish all responses from the scholars, not just those she agreed with and furthered her impeachment desires.

They'd also need to consider that a Pres. Cheney would likely be even more agressive than Pres. Bush.

I'm confident enough to know that George Bush didn't break the law -- and that he has the evidence to clear himself and condemn them.

So do I .. especially when he came right out and admitted it

The Dems though they he would lie or deny it

They thought wrong

And if another major terrorist attack were to happen on our soil after the Dems successfully stopped the wiretaps (and other necessary security measures) they'd be the first to criticize the President for "not protecting the American people."

I really don't think "W" has any intention of hauling any of these people to court. Instead, his ambition would appear to be to find them and kill them.
