ATLANTA (AP) -- U.S. Representative John Lewis said in a radio interview on Monday that President Bush should be impeached if he broke the law in authorizing spying on Americans.
The Democratic congressman from Georgia told WAOK-AM that he would sign a bill of impeachment if one was drawn up and that the House of Representatives should consider such a move.
Lewis is among several Democrats who have voiced discontent with Sunday night's television speech, where Bush asked Americans to continue to support the Iraq War. Lewis is the first major House figure to suggest impeaching Bush.
Lewis said --quote-- "It's a very serious charge, but he violated the law.The president should abide by the law. He deliberately, systematically violated the law. He is not King, he is president."
Good call! Try to impeach him when his poll numbers are rebounding!
Great strategy! :sarcasm:
Dems are so tone def it's almost funny.
I met him briefly a year or two ago in Las Vegas while waiting for a Walk light to change. He's very short. And self important.
Are they sure? Who can understand that mumbling imbecile?
He was given an honorary degree at a recent Duke University graduation ceremony. Many in the audience gave him a standing ovation. I was not one of the many.
Probably, he is most certainly a challenged speaker and not adept in the art of public discourse and very much prone to mispronunciation, mis-speaking, and outright bastardization of words. However, he has, in the eyes of his major constiuency earned that right through beatings to the head, high pressure fire hose dousings, police dog attacks, etc. (or so the story goes from the Alabama MLK days). I chalk it up to being punch drunk and maybe illiterate.
I also am aware that the leader of the free world ( President GW Bush) has a similar trouble with words, at times. So, my conclusion is not what manner in which a man speaks but what he says, and how you perceive what he meant to say.
Regardless, I have never agreed with Rep Lewis' aims and goals and feel he is just another tool of the Democratic party which will do anything, ANYTHING to regain and keep the power they once had.....
What an idiot!!
Everything President Bush is doing is covered by Law and there to protect even this idiots sorry butt!
What's his email?!
Well, since you seem to be the foremost promulgater of that view, can you tell me where the terms 'corporation' and 'association' are defined to include individual US citizens?
Seems to me that would be a more serious offense and the 'Rats have been harping on that a lot longer.
I don't know, lugsoul, I've read and re-read that section you don't seem to like my reposting on pertinent threads and I think it's pretty clear.
Who in the hell are those people?
5, 6, 7, thank you, thank you, I'll be here all week. Try the veal.
Should be WAKO-AM Not WAOK.
To have had but one modern day carrier on station then...
Oh, and under the most basic statutory construction, the Lone Wolf Amendment undermines your argument about 'agents of a foreign power.' The fact that these persons are excluded from the amendment is pretty good evidence that they aren't intended to be covered by those provisions, which have the same effect as the construction you urge.
Amazing to watch all these FReepers cheering the expansion of the state, even yawning at a flat admission of disregarding the Bill of Rights using a vague 'duty to protect' argument. The same argument could be used to justify kicking in doors and spiriting away people in the middle of the night. And I suspect the same folks would be cheering that, too.
Looks like you are being stalked Peach...lol.
And you're gonna hear lore of it
This was all a set up by the libs
