A Must Read:

Unholy Alliance :
Radical Islam and the American Left (Hardcover)
by David Horowitz

**************************************

Vastly Illuminating, September 25, 2004

Reviewer: Kat Bakhu (Albuquerque, NM United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I had long wondered why people on the Left had the propensity to speak more positively about people who would slit their throats than they do about their own country, which affords them more freedom and opportunity than anywhere else. David Horowitz has answered that question thoroughly and convincingly in his Unholy Alliance. Where I felt bewildered and confused, I now feel crystal clear. Unholy Alliance is such a great book.

It begins with the leftist movements at the beginning of the 20th Century, and works its way up to the present day, exploring the anti-American attitude of these movements in detail. Horowitz shows that the enemies of the US back then are largely the same group today, operating under the same misperceptions, making the same mistakes, and pursuing the same impossible utopia.

Individual chapters are included on the Patriot Act (I was persuaded that it is a GOOD thing); the democratic flip-flop on Iraq once G.W. Bush implemented what they agreed with Clinton needed to be done; the driving components of the current anti-war movement; as well as chapters on individual personalities who are major spokespeople of the Left. Horowitz covers a lot of ground, and he covers it concisely and clearly. Unholy Alliance is richly informative without ever being boring or plodding.

This book is so illuminating that I simply cannot do justice to it here. I love people who reason so clearly that they help me get my own reasoning clear. Horowitz is just that type of person! In the terrain of mindless clichés (no-blood-for-oil, etc.), he is a breath of real fresh air.

I'm not a fan of the Patriot Act, nor do I like the idea of government agencies skirting the boundaries of domestic spying ( yes, I know, the communications were to international sources. But, who is to say your overseas phone call isn't decided to be a security threat by a Queen Hillary? ). But this cr** has got to stop. Not only from the Fifth colu....er, Fourth Estate, but from elected officials who are supposed to be representing the United States, not Al Queda or France.

Perhaps it's time to turn tables on the media and liberal hacks....perhaps the public has a right to know if the President, the CEO and the publisher of the NY Times have conducted EVERY aspect of their business with the highest ethics and have the liberal Senators that are trying hard to destroy President Bush ALWAYS followed the letter of the law...? Inquiring minds want to know.

You're not kidding. I'm not holding my breath waiting for a call from the Democratic leadership for a special prosecutor in this case to investigate the source of the leak to the NY Times.

Risen is co-author, with former CIA intelligence officer * Milt Beardon, of The Main Enemy, being published in May, 2003.

* CBS terrorism analyst Milt Beardon

*******

Sept 17, 2001

Following the cataclysmic events of September 11, the U.S. authorities were quick to name bin Laden their prime suspect. The reasons for their suspicions are many, and the evidence collected during the ensuing investigation seems to support their theory.

Although the evidence seemed compelling, at least two people weren't convinced. Milt Beardon, a former CIA agent who spent time in Afghanistan advising the mujahedeen during their fight against the Soviets, told ABC's Sunday program that the attacks may have been the work of Shi'ite Muslims because the hijackers on the aircraft that crashed outside Philadelphia were described as wearing "red head bands," an adornment known to date back to the formation of the Shi'ite sect.

Mir also doubts that bin Laden was behind the September 11 attacks, saying the terrorist leader did not have the resources to pull it off.

******

Saddam Hussein would say, ‘If we’ve got a spy on the fifth floor of the building, take everyone on that floor out and chop them up into little pieces.’

—Former CIA official Milt Beardon, describing ousted Iraqi President Saddam Hussein’s approach to counterintelligence, which resulted in the deaths of hundreds of U.S.-recruited Iraqi agents from 1991 to 2003.

The largest single loss of Iraqis helping U.S. intelligence occurred in August 1996. Saddam's security forces infiltrated a U.S.-backed coup plot and rounded up 200 Iraqis on charges of participating in the plot and executed 80 of them immediately, according to reports published at the time. Iraqi forces then invaded sections of northern Iraq that were a base for the CIA-coordinated effort, rounding up still more suspects. After that, the CIA struggled painstakingly to rebuild its base of sources inside Iraq.

The three of them could not wipe their collective ass without Bill and I think the whole Dem caucus is just as guilty as the leaker's in the CIA, the State Department, Justice ect...this point in History is at critical mass... and we must not let the evil voices keep the truth from getting to the people! The Dims will not play nice, ever...and if Frist, and Rino's keep the BS up without princples, but to just get reelected, and say "Let's just all get along Crap..." Men and women of Goodwill, we must run them out of office...we can do this with the truth, and never let a Lie go unchallenged! Bush can do alot but he must have our very active forceful support!!! I think you can tell from my posts today I will not be passive anymore!!! Jim

Note that while the maximum penalty is death, that may be too harsh.

How do you figure that? That should be the penalty for treason in every case that there isn't serious mitigating circumstances and duress involved..like a persons family kidnapped and threatened with death for example. If someone willingly, under no duress, and in their right mind commits treason, kill them.

You ever heard of the First Amendment?

Citizens, including reporters, are not bound by intelligence disclosure laws. Reporting, regardless of what is reported, would never be considered treasonous unless one wants to completely gut the first amendment.

Some people here are making themselves look extremely silly. I agree that if government agents/employees were behind the leaks that lead to this (assuming there's something here; the admin could be playing a rope-a-dope knowing much of this info -- like the koran BS -- is incorrect), we should investigate whether laws were broken there. But that's a different issue.

Hate the guy if you want, but if what he's reporting is true, then he's only doing his job. What we need is people like him who are willing to do the same job no matter who's President.
