No, I'm stuck at the office and didn't realize he was making a speech today. I love Rumsfeld, I'm so sorry I missed him.

" Richard Engle MSNBC has just reported, the polls in Iraq have officially closed.
"

Last night on NBC Nightly News, they aired an Engle report about how things in Iraq might not be so bad after all.
NBC's excuse for the 24/7 negativity on Iraq was that conditions were not safe enough for them to venture out and see the improvements until recently.
NBC actually showed Iraqis at a western style fashion show, working out in a gym after work and the booming Iraqi stock exchange.
Apparently, not everyone was afraid to venture out.

This would seem to be negative news coming from the NY Times and has been denied by an Iraqi official:

Police Seize Forged Ballots Headed to Iraq From Iran

***************************************

BAGHDAD, Iraq, Dec. 13 - Less than two days before nationwide elections, the Iraqi border police seized a tanker on Tuesday that had just crossed from Iran filled with thousands of forged ballots, an official at the Interior Ministry said.

The tanker was seized in the evening by agents with the American-trained border protection force at the Iraqi town of Badra, after crossing at Munthirya on the Iraqi border, the official said. According to the Iraqi official, the border police found several thousand partly completed ballots inside.

The official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly, said the Iranian truck driver told the police under interrogation that at least three other trucks filled with ballots had crossed from Iran at different spots along the border.

An interesting stat from CBS just a minute ago (which actually had a pretty positive view of the elections today surprisingly):

Seventy percent of Baghdad is now controlled SOLELY by Iraqi forces. Seventy percent!

Wow! That is better than I ever expected. Those who say Iraq is going badly really need to look at the stats. And, I hope our President will trumpet this stuff during the SOTU.

Kiss this, Zarqawi:
