It is 10 pm on the US East Coast...and 6 am December 15 in Baghdad. The Iraqi polls will be opening soon...millions of Iraqis are about to experience for the first time that rush one gets when you vote for the first time.
God Bless our troops and may god bless the voters in Iraq as they head to the polls.
Let Freedom Ring!!!
How about a poll on how many would support a hostile takeover of the MSM by some real reporters!
LET FREEDOM REIGN!!
Chris Matthews is a frapping moron who ought to go back to doing something that is within his ability - like being a Democratic politico.
Thanks for the update, Sarge .. thank you for your service! Hope this finds you well!
I've had it with the news media. We seem to have a serious propaganda problem here in the States. We need to come up with more alternatives to this constant negative drivel.
You know what? As wonderful a day as this is, I've been feeling bitter lately; actually for some time now. We SHOULD have had an Iraqi army, or at least the nucleus of it, already in place (in the northern no-fly zone) before we went into Iraq. We SHOULD have had a government in exile ready to install, and been able to transfer sovereignty almost immediately. As wonderful as it is for Iraq to have a Constitution, the present document is unworkable and there will be great political difficulty to revise it and great risk if it's not. We SHOULD have had a less jury-rigged draft Constitution already written by Iraqis in exile before we even went to war.
IOW we should have been where we are now, and with much fewer American deaths, a year or two ago.
All of this was explicitly or implicitly mandated by the Iraq Liberation Act passed by a bipartisan vote of Congress, and putatively supported by the Executive branch, in 1998. Now I ask you, with all the Defeatocrat driven second guessing and look-back investigations, WHY THE HELL is no one even talking about investigating the CIA and STATE DEPARTMENT's refusal to implement, and their systematic campaign to subvert, the Iraq Liberation Act, in the face of repeated reaffirmations of it by Congress?
This mystifies me. Think of it: If the CIA, for instance, had actually spent the money Congress allocated to train an Iraqi army starting in 1998, where that would put us now? In the first place, having significant numbers of fighting Iraqis involved in the liberation of their own country might in itself have greatly and beneficially affected the psychology of the reaction to liberation. In any case we would have had more resources to more quickly establish security. The insurgency that has murdered thousands might have been stillborn.
Sorry to chime in with a sour note, but this has been pissing me off more and more each day from day one. I think we (our troops and their leaders, as well as the majority of Iraqis) have done marvelously considering the circumstances, but we SHOULD have had better circumstances. The groundwork for this should have been laid YEARS in advance. There were legislative mandates and money allocated for it to happen, and I *$(#&^-well want to know why it didn't.
DON KING: I love George Walker Bush because I think he's a revolutionary. He's a president that comes in with conclusiveness. What they're doing in tomorrow in Iraq is a demonstration of that for the vote for democracy. The fundamental process of democracy is freedom of speech, law and order, being able to have freedom, working with people and working and governing yourselves. George Bush is that. He included in...
WOLF BLITZER: Do you have any regrets supporting him? Take a look at that picture when you and I were there at the diner last year. Do you have any regrets supporting him as enthusiastically as you did?
DON KING: No, I don't. In fact, I want to support him more now because it seems like everybody is punching him. You know what I mean? But he's fighting back, and he's throwing great combinations. And I think he's the guy that is really a revolutionary president.

That's the wonderful thing about hindsight, it's always 20/20.
The polls have closed! I hope turnout was huge.
Thanks for the report, Old Sarge. This is a monumental day in world history thanks to you guys. Be safe.
Oh, I know that. And the local news editors know it, too. The level of distortion, blackouts, and outright lying from some MSM outlets indicate a certain level of psychosis. It's surreal. The story of the month, if not the year was taking place as we slept and it's being swept under the rug.
President George W Bush is the Freedom President. Once again the Republican Party drags the Liberals kicking and screaming like spoiled brats, blindly into the 21st century. George Bush is a visionary that sees the World as it can be, not as it is. He is the eternal optimist as well an eternal soldier. Never before have we had a leader who can visualize the power of peoples hunger for Freedom in the oppressed spirit, smoldering like a glowing ember in a wheatfield. Whether it is in a village in Afghanistan, a town in Iraq or facing a tank in Tiananmen Square the human spirit longs to feel the warm embrace of Lady Liberty.
W has blown the cool breath of Freedom onto the embers of Democracy on the Iraqi People who are in their infancy of self rule. Just as a toddler begins crawling and then reaching up to learn to walk before becoming an adult, we are witnessing that child nation take his first step. As our infant begins to walk in a room full of dangers, we can take pride in every step of that journey. There has been falls, cuts, bumps and bruises to get to the first step and there will be pitfalls along the way, but we and especially our Troops, should take great relief in the Freedom and hope for Iraq.
The fire is beginning to spread as the hope and hunger of the human spirit is being ignited. The oppression of the Middle East was not as severe or overt as was seen in Communist Russia or China with the physical presence of The Wall, since Saddamns wall was mental. They could come and go as they pleased if they had enough money or were connected, but their oppressors could snatch them off the street to be raped or tortured at any given moment. Now they are free to speak or write as they please and vote for their leaders. These flames are warming hearts and minds while pushing back the deep black darkness.
Over the next couple of years we will see a Government formed and a Leader chosen to lead the Iraqi people out of their darkness. We will see them taking ownership of their Country and their own personal Freedom. As they begin to understand that the oppression is behind them they will be taking their torches to the darkest corners of their Country. These flames will expose the terrorists from their hiding places and bring them to justice. The Wildfire will engulf the terrorist hidden in the brush to expose him as a hindrance to Freedom Worldwide. The average Iraqi as we saw on January 30th does not want to see his child blown up, rather has a heart that hopes for a new sunrise.
We are seeing sparks spreading across the tinderbox of Persia. Of all people, the PLO and Hezbola have seen the light as well as the peoples of Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Lebanon. While these fires begin to burn bright in Beirut we will see the sparks ignite into flames in these Countries as well as Iran and move around the World to the slave fields of China, Cuba and Korea. Once people understand that Freedom can happen in Countries like Russia, Afghanistan and Iraq, they will realize that Dictators are actually Sand Castles standing against an Ocean. They cannot quench the thirst for Freedom with threats or terror any longer.
President Bush has become one of the Great Visionaries of history. Just as the invisible hand of Capitalism is the most efficient form of economics, so too is the invisible hand of Freedom and Democracy. This hand will expose and capture the Terrorists around the World great and small. People will throw off their shackles of fear and follow the model of Afghanistan and Iraq to fan the white hot flames of Liberty. As America and her friends fuel these flames, millions will be freed from their oppression and take back ownership of their lands. As this Wildfire spreads throughout the World, despots cower in fear as they wait for their ultimate demise at the hands of Gods servant leader, the Freedom President George W Bush.
Pray for W and Our Freedom Fighting Troops
Chrissy Matthews is just using teaser lines like "successful" to get people watching then he's going to fall back into his "Iraqi Disgrace","Bush is Bad" mode.
Yep, that's what I'm talking about.
All the Bush nay-sayers, especially some on this forum, should read this. I believe that history will show GW as one of the greatest and most visionary presidents in the history of this country. He took what was in his heart and acted on it, didn't just talk about it.
