VIENNA, Austria - California's execution of Stanley Tookie Williams on Tuesday outraged many in Europe who regard the practice as barbaric, and politicians in Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's native Austria called for his name to be removed from a sports stadium in his hometown.
At the Vatican, Pope Benedict XVI's top official for justice matters denounced the death penalty for going against redemption and human dignity.
"We know the death penalty doesn't resolve anything," Cardinal Renato Martino told AP Television News. "Even a criminal is worthy of respect because he is a human being. The death penalty is a negation of human dignity."

The Guillotine was last used in France on Sept. 10, 1977, I believe. Four years after the moratorium on executions here. We just did the right thing and reinstated them.
It seems to condone slavery. "Masters, be good to your slaves yadda yadda yadda".
Craig Ferguson (late night CBS) tells constantly about how violent Glasgow is.
"Oh my God! They Killed Tookie!"

Would Martino have so easily convinced Paul?
Romans Ch 13:1-7
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.
For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.
Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
Earth to the Europeans...your entire continent is about to be run over by Islamist the next 10 years. What happened in France is just the beginning. Your propped up way of life at the expense of our armed forces and protection is a miserable failure and will end in your dhimmitude to Satans hordes. Perhaps we'll disdain of your stupidity and tell you we have better things to do than have thousands of our citizens die for your benefit and without gratitude, when you beg us to help you fix your screwed up continent yet again.
Im not religious in any way, however such brutal killings of innocent people makes me see no other option than spilling the murderes blood as well.

I have no remorse for him.
What happens in America is not really that big news, most countries or more concerned with what goes on in there own borders.
Americans with the American media have a almost unhealthy obsession is wanting to know what we think about them.
If America was a person would it be a girl constantly standing up and asking does my bum look big in this. LOL
That's genocide. It's not the Death Penalty.
You ignorant Merkin - can't you tell the difference? < /sarcasm>
"We know the death penalty doesn't resolve anything," Cardinal Renato Martino
On THIS particular topic? Borderline - tilted towards.
I hate to dispute the Cardinal's assertion but the death penalty DOES resolve something, the killer does not kill another human being.
"We know the death penalty doesn't resolve anything," Cardinal Renato Martino told AP Television News.
Reminds me of the story about the starfish stranded on the beach after a storm. Little kid's tossing them back one by one, man comes along and says, "What you're doing won't make any difference". Kid tosses another starfish, looks at the man and says, "It made a difference to that one..."
Sure. Remember to "respect" their queer priest as you turn the handle of the vice holding their w*ts.
It seems to condone slavery. "Masters, be good to your slaves yadda yadda yadda".
No, it doesn't actually CONDONE slavery, the scriptures advise the slaveholder HOW to conduct himself with regards to the enslaved as it also instructs the bondservant how to behave towards his/her keeper.
Big difference.
I take no great pleasure in the execution, but anyone who has objections should be confronted with the police photos of the people Tookie so brutally murdered. They finally have their justice. As far as Tookie's so-called redemption, did he ever admit to his crimes, much less apologize for them? I'm not sure he changed in any sense other than he just got old.
A stadium named for a cold-blooded killer.
What's next, a peace prize for a terrorist?
Oh Puleeze!
