Asner Says He Faced Fox "Lynch Mob"
TV Newser ^ | 12/13/05 | Brian Stelter

Posted on 12/13/2005 5:56:30 AM PST by frankjr

Actor Ed Asner, a death penalty opponent, appeared on Court TV today to talk about the Stanley "Tookie" Williams case. He said he felt like he was appearing before a lynch mob when he appeared on Fox recently:

"...I would be amazed if he did commute. It just strikes me that you know we go through these dog and pony shows all the time. It gives me an opportunity to appear before your cameras and spout and it gives other people a very good platform to spout.

I must say that on your program from the guests that you've had on prior to me I am very impressed with the quality and the fact that you've given equal time to anti death penalty or certainly to commutation, clemency in this case.

I was on FOX TV the other day and I thought I was appearing before a lynch mob. So it's very refreshing to be on your show."

Nothing melts a liberal more then having to face open critism and debate. They just can't handle it.

He's always been an A..whole. Can't stand him...what a sorry American. These actors from Hollyweirdo in the past have always had people licking their feet almost bowing to them. We're in a different day...thanks to the internet...the real Americans NOW at last have a voice...these dembo actors can't stand the fact...we think their nothing more than a bunch of commie loons and we're letting others in America know what absolute creeps they all are. They can't take the heat...LOL

You beat me to it. MTM is an avowed animal rights activist, and her most publicized activities are her efforts to save lobsters.

According to her, lobsters have feelings too, so you should not be allowed to eat them.

"They can't take the heat.."

And based on Ed's size, it looks like he didn't "get out of the kitchen" either.

"Are the politicos and celebs being so vocal because Tookie was black or because he was a criminal?"

I'm waiting to see what happens when that piece of pond-scum Richard Allen Davis is strapped to a gurney.

I heard on Fox today from the stepmother of one of the victims (Owens) that Williams never started the "I'm innocent" mantra until after all of his appeals had been exhausted.

My new tagline: The difference between conservatives and liberals is that the former know the name of Tookie Williams VICTIMS.

Williams was convicted of murdering four innocent bystanders with a sawed-off shotgun in 1979

There was nothing peaceful or compassionate about the way [Albert Owens], Thsai-Shai Yang, Yen-I Yang and Yee Chen Lin died. Owen[s] was a white teen-age clerk at a 7-11 convenience store, shot twice in the back of the head -- execution-style -- as he lay unarmed on the floor during a hold-up. A witness testified that Williams mocked the gurgling sounds Owen[s] made as he lay dying. "You should have heard the way he sounded when I shot him," the witness quoted Williams.

The Yangs were Taiwanese immigrants who, along with their daughter Yee Chen Lin, were gunned down during a motel robbery two weeks after Owen[s] died. Half of the daughter's face was blown off by the shotgun blasts, former L.A. County Deputy District Attorney Robert Martin told me in an interview this week. Williams called them "Buddhaheads," Martin recounted, and robbed them of petty cash.

Williams has yet to apologize to the victims' families. When the trial ended, Martin told me, Williams muttered to the prosecution team, "I'll get every one of you m-----f-----s."

A little song...a little dance...a little seltzer down your pants...

LOL....That has to be the funniest episode I've ever seen in any series on TV ever.

The subtantial girth-arm length ratios suffered by both Asner and Kim would make such a reach-around implausible in either direction.

I hadn't seen this old bastard around in a long time, and I''m a little disappointed to see that he is still slightly above room temperature.

He used to be one of the worst of the hissing, contemptuous, Hollywood, hate-America crowd. Mike Ferrell, too. Ferrell seems to have mellowed a little, but my memory is long. You spit on our country and its values....I remember for a long time.

It's sad that he wasn't lynched. This poor old commie needs to be put out to pasture....maybe we can pay for him to be retired to Havana? I'd chip in a few bucks for a one way ticket.

If he was on Dayside, that means he probably had a live audience disagreeing with him also. A live audience that represents a pretty good cross-section of American society. And it is hard to be confronted with the reality of American opinion, vs the sheltered world he normally exists in.

I happend to catch the show and he was obnoxious, on a rant and wouldn't let the host get a word in edgewise. The audience didn't clap when his name was announced so I guess his feelings were hurt.
