Stanley Tookie Williams executed Crips gang co-founder put to death for 4 murders

SAN QUENTIN, California (CNN) -- Convicted killer and Crips gang co-founder Stanley Tookie Williams was executed early Tuesday at the California state prison at San Quentin.
The execution went ahead as scheduled after the U.S. Supreme Court late Monday rejected a last-ditch appeal.
The high court's ruling followed California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's decision to deny clemency for Williams, 51, who received a lethal injection at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday (3:01 a.m. ET).

Bye Bye Tookie Dookie
Let's keep in mind that Terry Schiavo was innocent as well...
Yeah, but you're just a HarmlessLovableFuzzball...
One wouldn't expect any less..
It's a psychological thing.
Good people are forced to sit day in and day out and impotently witness blatant evil going unpunished.
The "celebratory" effect is somewhat like a psychological safety valve.
After seeing so much lawlessness going unavenged, it's an emotional relief to finally see some small bit of justice carried out.
If the relief of that safety valve is squelched, people can sink into despair over the fact that justice all too often seems to be delayed or entirely denied.
[short version; give 'em a break]...:)
I agree. I don't understand how anyone can regard an execution as a form of entertainment.
I think it is an understandable reaction, especially since the killer is being treated like some sort of celebrity/hero. Williams ultimately is at least partly responsible for thousands of deaths in addition to the four people he directly murdered. What really disgusts me is how Jessee Jackson rushed to Williams' defense, when Williams and people like him are in large part the reason that poor people living in bad neighborhoods have to sleep in bathtubs to shield themselves from bullets from gangsters. But the rich, liberal activists can fly home to their guarded mansions in gated communities. People who have to live in the real world are relieved that Williams is dead and a little gallows humor is natural, especially since activists and the mainstream media tried to make Williams out to be some sort of saint.
<< Just listening to the observer's here on UK news. Tookies supporters seem to have upset the victims family by announcing 'The state of California has just killed an innocent man'. How is that allowed? >>

[Since 1776, already]
On the other hand, America's intelligent radio talkshow host, Michael Savage, has taken the time and the risk of reminding us just what it is we are all talking about, of taking the focus off Jesse HiJackson and morning TV's Eva Braun and putting it back on Mr Williams; victims.

Sorry, honey, but SOME of us have to get up in the morning!
OMG, that is too funny!
Thanks - whoever I stole it from will be honored.
Agreed - call it the "Rachel Corrie effect."
That will be nothing. Just wait and watch what happens if and when rioting starts. People will get a kick out of that, too.
I wrote to the BBC earlier today(of course they didn't publish it), and I say this most respectfully now that Tookie is dead, that Tookie's execution should have been carried out in Compton,CA, in some public area. Following which his body should have been placed there for 24hrs to allow other "residents" to pay their respects.
The b@st@rds get all the good nicknames.
I'll second that.
Given that one who murdered four times--for $220--was given his due after a quarter of a century of delay, celebration is warranted.
No doubt. Local news said the other death row inmates were afraid of him. He had made threats against them and got his people on the outside involved. The reporter said the people at the prison stated Williams was the meanest guy they had ever met.
Why hasn't Jesse resurected him yet? It's been 1 1/2 hours.
