Blanco postpones New Orleans elections 12/12/2005, 12:07 p.m. CT The Associated Press

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Gov. Kathleen Blanco postponed the New Orleans mayoral election indefinitely on Monday, setting up a legal battle with voters who filed a lawsuit seeking to ensure the election is held as scheduled in February.

Gee, you know that they didn't postpone the election in New Orleans in 1864 for something so minor as the fricking Civil War, but six months after a hurricane and she postpones the election!

Really. Elections have been successfully held in Iraq and Afghanistan under more dire conditions. However, postponing elections is a sure way to keep the corrupt in power.
