A car bomb has exploded in a Christian-dominated suburb of the Lebanese capital Beirut, say reports.
At least three people are believed to have been killed and several injured in the blast in the Mekallis area, according to unconfirmed reports.
One local resident told the French news agency AFP they thought a passing official convoy was the target.
Several cars were reportedly set alight and nearby shops and buildings damaged by the explosion.

Probably were the pro-Syrian folks, you know they like those open air picnics and playing frisbee. They would never harm another living soul.

The closer major investigations directly link Syria's Bashar al-Assad to the ordered murder of Lebanon's Rafik Hariri, the more desperate the brutal Damascus régime becomes.

desperation brings recklessness, recklessness means mistakes, and mistakes mean Asad is going to crumble under his own weight. we don't have to intervene

Update: Via the
BBC Beirut bomb 'kills anti-Syria MP'
"A prominent anti-Syrian MP in Lebanon has been killed in a car bomb attack in the capital Beirut, say reports.
Gibran Tueni's convoy was targeted as it travelled in the Christian-dominated eastern suburb of Mekallis.
At least two other people were killed and several injured in the powerful blast during rush hour.
The attack comes hours before a UN team investigating the murder of ex-prime minister Rafik Hariri presents its findings to the UN Security Council.
The report is expected to detail Syria's alleged role in the murder.
Beirut's Christian and anti-Syrian areas have been the target of at least 14 blasts since Mr Hariri's assassination in February, says the BBC's Kim Ghattas."

It almost unbelievable that someone (guess who?) ordered this attack in Beirut. It is hard to understand the stupidity as the radio frequencies in Beirut probably are the most monitored in the world (and by almost all countries in the world.)
It seems that two presidents with the first letters in their names beginning with A are tuned to self-destruct,although in this case we will see a lion with a low tail.

Remember, if it's that unbelievable, then it might not be the case. Perhaps this attack originated from someone wanting to see Syria's downfall.

It was impossible to hide the communications. I anticipate that transcripts will enter the public domain. They are stupid in Damascus.

If they have comms, I'm sure we'll hear about it soon enough. And yes, that would ample proof of Damascus' stupidity. :)

"An outspoken critic of Syria's role in Lebanon, Tueni had recently been living in France for fear of assassination. His columns in An-Nahar often raised the ire of the Syrians.
After ex-Premier Rafik Hariri's assassination, Tueni played a prominent role in the leadership of the mass demonstrations that, combined with international pressure, succeeded in forcing Syria to withdraw its troops from Lebanon in April, ending a 29-year hegemony. He was elected to parliament for the first time in the last elections in June.
Tueni's grandfather, Gebran Tueni, founded An-Nahar. His father Ghassan Tueni is considered the dean of the Lebanese press, having turned the newspaper into one of the leading media institutions in the Arab world.
He is survived by his wife, Siham Asseily and his four daughters Nayla, Michelle, Gabriella and Nadia."

These brazen state sponsored murders of vocal opponents of Syrian & Iranian interference in Lebanon will eventually backfire on the jihadist promoting dictatorships in Damascus & Tehran.

Syria loves you for making this ignorant remark.
All year long prominent pro-Lebanon journalists and politicians have been systematically murdered. There is not much of a doubt that Syria is behind those murders. Since their forced pull-out Syria lost a major revenue stream (stealing from Lebanon). The result ahs been a collapsing economy and collapsing currency.
