Trial lawyers who made a fortune from lawsuits against tobacco companies are moving on to a new potential payday: Suing soft drink companies over the sale of sugary beverages in schools.
Stephen Gardner, staff lawyer for the Center for Science in the Public Interest, and half a dozen other lawyers several of them veterans of successful tobacco litigation plan to file a lawsuit in the next few months seeking to ban sales of sugary beverages in schools.

I love how lawyers are suing about things that aren't even against the law.
Can't wait till the Dems get power back and actually make everything illegal - at least then these lawyers will have cause...
Good things we have a GOP Government stopping these ridiculous types of law suits.
Oh wait...
Go lawyers! Ban high-fructose corn syrup now!
Whatever happened to being pro-choice. If I want to put soda or tobacco in my body, why should the government get involved?
The answer is very simple....the schools should just pull this crap out of the schools. No law suit. What's wrong with a water fountain?
Will we have to stand outside the front doors to drink a Coke?
Must be people holding guns to the childrens' heads, forcing them to put their money in the machines and buy the sugar water. Ban guns and pop! For the children.
the only lawsuit I'll support from these dang lawyers is when they file a class-action lawsuit against beer manufacturers for making me wake up with ugly women in the morning..:)
Until judges start punishing lawyers for bringing these ridiculous actions, the legal system will continue to deteriorate until it loses what little credibility is has left.
Not allowed!Verboten!
You have to do what we did in high school....leave at lunch and walk to the 7-11 for a coke and chips.
Pop is just sugar water and a waste of money. But if someone wants to drink it that should be their decision.
Now they will have to define "sugary" soft drinks. Milk is full of lactose, fruit juice is full of fructose...I guess all you get is water or diet soda.
I hear they accept non refundable empty soda and beer cans and broken bottles on their office front steps.

My 10 year old niece says to me:
"Uncle, what is the difference between a fox and a dog?"
I say, "What hon?"
She says, "three beers."
Then she falls on the floor laughing. She doesn't even get it. Funny kid.
You mean the kind you want to gnaw your arm (underneath her) off so you will not wake her up?
Forget the diet soda. The aspartame and Splenda lawsuits will soon follow.
Good idea, but the Judge couldn't do that by himself. He'd need a law to go by.
In theory, at least!
You should hear what the ugly women say about you.
ROFL...I'm afraid to ask..:)
