OTTAWA (CP) — Prime Minister Paul Martin will venture into violence-plagued Toronto Thursday and announce a sweeping ban on handguns, Canadian Press reports.

Martin is scheduled to visit Toronto's troubled Jane-Finch area to make a "safer communities announcement."

Liberal sources have confirmed the announcement includes a ban on handguns.

My guess is that it will help in the inner 905, but hurt badly in the outer 905 marginals...

Boy, I really feel for you Canadian conservatives. But if the Libs manage to regain the govt in this election, which it sounds like they will, they'll be the ruling power for as far as the eye can see. If gomery and the gun registry and gay marriage and gun control aren't enough to get these thievin thugs thrown out of power, nothing that I can possibly envision will do it.

All this is going to do is encourage the libs to unheard of levels. The anti-Americanism is going to be shouted to the heavens and there is no hope that the Canadian military will every be reconstituted to its once proud self.

More billions upon billions will be funnelled into the NHS. Aboriginals will receive ever increasing amounts of public lands, gratis.

It'll never end. At least not in our lifetimes.

LOL!

I love Texas!

At least the parts of it I've seen.
Mostly the DFW area.
Las Colinas is my favorite area.

They are practicing an ideal form of politics in a world that doesn't exist to bring their wanted outcome.

Canada is officially toast!

I know we can't take any firearms across the bridge/tunnel from Detroit

The Canada Border Services Agency is responsible for deciding whether to let a non-resident bring a firearm into Canada. As a general rule, non-residents may bring a non-restricted rifle or shotgun into Canada for approved purposes such as hunting, target shooting, wilderness protection or in-transit movement by a reasonably direct route to another point outside Canada.

Restricted firearms (mainly handguns and some semi-automatic long guns) can generally only be imported if the person can demonstrate a need for having the firearms in Canada – for example to take part in an organized target-shooting event.

Telling the truth:
I live about 50 miles South of Abilene.

If I died and went to heaven I dont think it could better than living here.

Can I immigrate if I promise to bring my weaponry? Please? I'm a damn yankee, but please don't hold that against me. I'm a decent shot, and I promise to take my turn guarding the southern border. ;-)

I think the sane and civilized among us need to take up residence in the Alamo......

*laugh*

Well, to be fair, I didn't mention the influx of muslims, nor the shift from Dominion law to Sharia law.

Never say things are at their worst. Things can ALWAYS get worse :)

We need more conservatives in Canada! Just don't bring so many that it gives the US an opening to shift left...

American gun makers had better be bailing out of Canada, if they have operations there. The Canadian government is going to sue the bejeebers out of them, and unlike in the US, they will win.

You are ABSOLUTELY right.

Hey, the Canadian government investigated Conrad Black and couldn't pin him down. And yet the U.S. government is prepared to send him to jail for decades.

I am learning that there is a totally different mindset in Canada, and I don't want gun makers to go under because they can be sued up here.

Just like the Loyalists ran north after the Revolution, if there are any gun operations north of the border, like you say, they'd better get south.

Government authorities that would prevent me from protecting myself are a greater threat to my security than a firearm in the hands of a responsible, law abiding person ever could be.
