OTTAWA (CP) — Prime Minister Paul Martin will venture into violence-plagued Toronto Thursday and announce a sweeping ban on handguns, Canadian Press reports.
Martin is scheduled to visit Toronto's troubled Jane-Finch area to make a "safer communities announcement."
Liberal sources have confirmed the announcement includes a ban on handguns.

Gun control makes a lot of sense from the perspective of what are now referred to as "liberal" politicians. It ensures permanent job security if they get to their intended end state.
In the meantime gun control plays to the interests of at least two of these hacks two natural constituencies: The hysteria of the pathologically dependent who sincerely believe that the Government can protect them [a.k.a. "total fools"]and the enablement of violent criminals.
I would find this amusing, but based on living in the New Jersey, I have every reason to believe that we are not far behind in the Canadians in the quality of either our politicians or the collective wisdom of our electorate.
The only thing we have standing in the way of a total loss of freedom is the Constitution and given that a large number of "legal scholars" and what appears to be a majority of Dem politician openly describe he Constitution as a "living and breathing document" even the Constitution may not be enough.

In addition, the 613 area code includes Ottawa, but the Liberals are falling even there. The rural areas surrounding there are almost as conservative as red state America.

I hope this means Para Ordinance is going to move the whole operation to the U.S. I would always welcome another quality gun maker.
Why don't they simply look at the UK? Australia? Look at the crime stats there to divine the effect a gun grab will have in Canada...I guess that would make too much sense.
