1 - 3 inches of snow will make everyone in central Maryland drive at 5mph out to get bread, milk and toilet paper. The just don't get the 1 - 3 inches isn't going to cause you to be stuck in your house for weeks on end.

The white death comes to Cowtown.

I'll bet the bread and milk are already in short supply.

Actually according to the NWS definition, ACTUAL Blizzards ANYWHERE on the East Coast, especially at low elevation. are exceedingly rare. (I think there's been some loosening of standards recently, but they're still practically non-existent.)

What people don't understand is you can have 3 feet of snow and without the winds it isn't a blizzard.

The winter of 76-77 brought the only true blizzard of my lifetime. We had 3 feet of snow on level ground and didn't go to school for more than a week.

I remember that storm. We lived quite aways out with no close neighbors. Friends did visit after several days on a snow machine to make sure we didn't need anything.

When they finally got to our road they started with a snowplow, gave us and brought in a dozer, gave up again and cleared 1/4 mile of road one scope at a time with a front end loader.

Oh this I know, but it sure sucks to be around. And whenever you drive in heavy snowfall no matter what its a blizzard condition as you drive.

It's "I have a 4 wheel drive Christmas shopping day" here in KC. 14 degrees (our high for the day", light snow, and no lines. I'm in the parking lot with the kids watching Bob the Builder while my wife is tearing through the store with wanton disregard. God Bless America

Out here on the Dakota tundra 1-3" of snow is a minor inconvenience unless it is accompanied by 50+MPH winds and then it gets pretty nasty.

Oooh, I remember that. I was 7 years old. There were 4-5 foot snow drifts in my backyard. I was helping shovel the driveway and the wall of snow was so high I couldn't see the front door of the house when my Mom called to me. The adults were digging out the cars on the street, creating mountains of snow that seemed to me they were about 6 feet tall. We made huge twisting slides on them. Good times. Of course now that I'm one of the adults that has to shovel the stuff, I hate snow. ;-P

Joe B. was screaming about how this would be a major storm. Of course he said we'd have 6 inches on Monday night, and we got 3 (and this morning he said "Hey, I was right, you got 3-6 inches, to which I wanted to reply -- yea, we also got 3-12 inches, and 3-18 inches.).

Yep. My daughter already doesn't have school -- inservice day. I figure if I DON'T take it seriously, we WILL get enough snow that getting to the store with two kids will be a major pain.

Besides, I don't want to get my hopes up for a "major snow event," and have us get Jack Sh*t.

I remember this storm, actually chain of storms that put roughly 40 inches of snow in kansas in a little over a weeks time. Boy that was fun, snow forts and snowball fights. We would put on our converse and glide around on thesolid ice pack roads. The good times.

"1-3" is not a blizzard.
Maybe 13", but not 1-3"."

They don't even plow under six inches in the last place we lived. I was at the dr. there today and the nurse on the phone was saying, "No, we don't have much, only a foot or so." LOLOL!!!
