Sex and the Pity: Dowd can't make up her mind, while Levy takes on pornification

MoDo is everywhere: looking sultry on the cover of New York, posing in slinky stockings and red heels inside the Times magazine, and appearing on the cover of Are Men Necessary? as a flame-haired bombshell in a clingy crimson dress and matching pumps, coolly reading a hardcover on the subway as the men around her stare. OK, the last one is a pulp-noir illustration, but it clearly alludes to Maureen Dowd's persona.

I can't imagine Thomas Friedman lending himself to such treatment, but Dowd has conjured a public image that blends Lauren Bacall and Dorothy Parker. Our most influential female newspaper columnist, Dowd comes off like a brainy vamp who cuts power brokers down to size with serrated satire. So many women were disappointed by the Times magazine excerpt from her new book, in which this media provocateur coyly dispensed bedraggled platitudes about the war of the sexes.

There is a reason a lot of American men are receptive to non-American women (Asian women in particular). We seek women with traditional family values that put family & kids above career and that are sweet and kind types that make good wives and moms.

Dowd is living proof that a no nothing can be a millionaire in the United States. She's proof that the left loves the most brain dead of idiots. Her career is testimony to the theory that intelligence, creativity and good writing skills are less important than having rich and powerful friends. Her columns lend creedence to the reality that even the biggest left wing hack will still be called "impartial" by the "unbiased" press.

Having no idea of what Maureen Dowd looks like, I did a web image search. She is supposed to be hot, a “bombshell”?
I guess as a mediocre writer, she needs all the publicity she can get.
