Not one soldier had better die in a rescue attempt.

" He specifically stated that if taken hostage he did not want US or Iraqi forces to attempt his rescue with any use of force..."
Now why would someone say this beforehand - unless he was there TO be "taken hostage" and subsequently "ransomed"?

"I would like to say to them that my father was always very welcome by the Iraqis he was trying to help, that the work that he was there to do is the same work they would like to see done," Not to nitpick, Jeff, but is it possible that, by "they," she was referring to "the Iraqis he was trying to help," and not to the kidnappers? I didn't see it so I'll defer to you.

I noticed that the passion was absent from President Bush's voice when he commented that the U.S. would pay no ransom for these kidnapped people. I wonder what the inside info on this scene is. Because the White House worked their butts off to try and get back Daniel Pearl and I heard about $5 million possibly being offered for him.

I am saddened by the fact that our brave US Military would and will do everything in their power to save this US citizen.
Every day I am completely amazed at what our military will do for us. And I am so thanksful!

Call me cold-hearted.
Honor his wishes and let him work things out with his captors since he is there to help them and oppose his own country. No need to risk American life to attempt his rescue. He said he didn't want bloodshed on his behalf. He understands the consequences and took the risk of having his head carried out in the basket.
If hundreds more of his kind venture over to Iraq are we to waste men, women, and resources to rescue them?

We should pause before jumping to conclusions. By "they" was she referring to the "Iraqis" or to the terrorist? I think the former is more likely.

There is an element that is more infuriating. All foreigners are warned repeatedly that no matter what their motives, living unprotected in Iraq is extremely dangerous. So, now these naifs gets kidnapped and regardless of their earlier statements, the military has to expend time and manpower trying to rescue them; time and manpower that could be better spent getting rid of the threats against Iraqi citizens. It is likely the kidnappers are nothing more than thugs out to make some money.

While I can respect the strength of the man's convictions, You know Jeff you must be a better person then I am.
I in no way respect any of these so called "peace" activist. They are evil people who get innocents killed. They aren't stupid, they know exactly what they are doing.
May they be rewarded according to their works.
