O'Reilly just tried to make up some nonsense (as always) about Iraq and Vietnam. O'Reilly's guest was Lt. Gen. Mcinerney, who explained to BOR that it takes years to develop good company, battalion and division commanders and this will take 5 to 10 years to achieve in Iraq.
O'Reilly pontificates and tells Mcinerney that in Vietnam our advisors ran the South Vietnamese units and we just trained the Vietnamese footsoldiers and that worked pretty good and we should do the same in Iraq and the real problem is we don't have enough Iraqi "riflemen" to take orders from our advisors like we did in Vietnam and "isn't that right?"
It was beautiful when Mcinerney said calmly "No, I don't think it is right" and Mcinerney further explains that HE WAS an advisor in Vietnam and he NEVER commanded the Vietnamese units, they of course had their own leaders and he only gave them advice and support.
O'Reilly being what he is, he of course interrupted Mcinerney and somehow pretended he hadn't just been smashed in the face with his own pie, and switched to the other guest. O'Reilly makes up so much based on his own egotistic bloviating it was great watching someone who knew what they were talking about calmly tell O'Reilly he's full of it.
"O'Reilly pontificates and tells Mcinerney that in Vietnam our advisors ran the South Vietnamese units and we just trained the Vietnamese footsoldiers and that worked pretty good and we should do the same in Iraq and the real problem is we don't have enough Iraqi "riflemen" to take orders from our advisors like we did in Vietnam and "isn't that right?"
If I recall correctly, Col. Hunt was one of the very wrong 'armchair generals' whose pre-invasion predictions were way off. Of the military contributors on FOX, i've always like Col David Hackworth, Oliver North, and McInerny.
>He doesn't take "correcting" well. In fact, he pretty much refused to listen to McInerny.,
The funny thing is a little old lady told him essentially the same thing this afternoon on the radio. When he started his deal about training soldiers in 10 weeks she told him our officers spend 4 years at the finest military schools. He just started bloviatng. That's probably where he got the idea for the question.
Look at his competition -- Keith Olberman and Larry King.
"He doesn't take "correcting" well..."
Reminds me of a skit performed by Victor Borge many years ago. He was portraying Franz Liszt when he said this:
"Well, to be honest, I was very conceited in my youth. In fact, I was always very conceited, but all that has changed now. Now I'm perfect!"
I guess the "ego monster" didn't check in with his reviews on FreeRepublic today to see how that nonsense got torn totally apart here.
The guy is a total jerk and it appears no one at Fox has bothered to tell him. That's a sure sign that you don't have any friends. .
I have you beat by 2 months.
I thought the EXACT same thing when I heard it.
Yes, his show does have this strange mass appeal that's hard to explain sometimes....until you look at his competition.
I thought I had you by a day -- then I realized yours said "Jan" not "Jun". Ah, well. I'm pretty sure that I registered within the first week or so of finding the link from Drudge.
Not sure why, but this made me LOL.
Being kind of hard on Bill aren't we?
Look. He has a schtick. It gets annoying as does Larry Kings Schtick. However, he really never lets conversations drag into that 'safety zone' that most politicians like. His comments are interesting at best and entertaining at worst. What do you want that's better? Brit Hume does the news. Bill does the commentary. Would you rather have Jesse Jackson or Nancy Pelosi doing it? I wouldn't!
Lots of green showing around here tonight I'd say.
BOL is the best on cable, bar none and you all watch him as proof.
Not much goes against him because he is unbeatable.
His kid book is awesome btw.
It has been more like 3-4, for me.
I still say that when Arthel Neville left the show, he lost his "grounding" in the real world. She acted as a court jester to keep BOR's head from swelling. Though I disagreed greatly with her politics, she served a very useful purpose for BOR and the show.
When she left for greener pastures, is when BOR's head swelled to several times the volume of the studio, and I quit watching regularly.
This guy is about 75% flipped. I don't trust him a bit. He's not helping the war effort, the troops' morale or our Commander-in-Chief with his BS that most freepers could blow holes into in a face-to-face with him.
Right away he started out with his now-familiar "America bad" crappola much to the delight of O'Reilly. The duo's bash-America session would have continued except for the calm, non-emotional FACTS stated by McInerney.....which put the lie to the two egoists on the show.
The Hunt-O'Reilly axis of weevils is damaging to our country. It's an insidious situation when the two of them are on together.
"Bloviator" may be a funny term to some, but what O'Reilly's nickname really should be is not so funny.
Leni
How do you bring that number up?
No I set the radio to static. (actually I worked late)
"Look at his competition"
I will not.
