Classic: O'Reilly Just Embarrassed Himself With Lt Gen Mcinerney
Fox News BOR Show | 11/30/05

Posted on 11/30/2005 5:31:57 PM PST by Williams

O'Reilly just tried to make up some nonsense (as always) about Iraq and Vietnam. O'Reilly's guest was Lt. Gen. Mcinerney, who explained to BOR that it takes years to develop good company, battalion and division commanders and this will take 5 to 10 years to achieve in Iraq.

O'Reilly pontificates and tells Mcinerney that in Vietnam our advisors ran the South Vietnamese units and we just trained the Vietnamese footsoldiers and that worked pretty good and we should do the same in Iraq and the real problem is we don't have enough Iraqi "riflemen" to take orders from our advisors like we did in Vietnam and "isn't that right?"

It was beautiful when Mcinerney said calmly "No, I don't think it is right" and Mcinerney further explains that HE WAS an advisor in Vietnam and he NEVER commanded the Vietnamese units, they of course had their own leaders and he only gave them advice and support.

O'Reilly being what he is, he of course interrupted Mcinerney and somehow pretended he hadn't just been smashed in the face with his own pie, and switched to the other guest. O'Reilly makes up so much based on his own egotistic bloviating it was great watching someone who knew what they were talking about calmly tell O'Reilly he's full of it.

BOR(e) is a primo spinner. Just another example here.

It is still a coin flip to guess what Bill O'Reilly believes on any topic. His principals change from day to day.

O'Reilly is the king of cable, like him or not.

I thought that was Spongebob.

O'Reilly has one principal. Bill O'Reilly, and that principal has zero principles. He's a populist who only by chance lands on the right side of certain issues.

O'Reilly has implied on his radio show that he had been in "combat" with his unit. He has never served and admitted he was actually a reporter in a firefight in Coocoomunga or some place like that.

Once again, Kieth Olbrermann has named BOR today's Worst Person In The World

Something to do with some Factor Christmas tree ornament that says Holiday rather than Christmas, after BOR railed against stores and their adversion to the use of the word Christmas in their ads and store displays.

I am SO glad I wasn't the only one that was appalled at O'Reilly's show tonight.

Thanks for the ping aling!

I thought he did that almost every show (the part where he opens his mouth and a reasonable facsimile of thought is implied).

Ha, there's aren't many FReepers still posting that have been here as long as you, me, and Willims (and I beatcha by one day.) IIRC, my member number is 186, but I've forgotten how to bring that number up.

Yay...someone who is wondering the same thing about Col. Hunt that I am....I wonder who came and took the REAL Col. Hunt, and put this squish in his place.

Everytime I hear idiots say that training a military force to the level of US soldiers - since that is the only standard they know - is easy, I want to kick the dog. What idiots do they think we are, especially when I hear stuff like "Iraq is like another VietNam"?

You got that right. Lucky for him, the FCC doesn't regulate "sliminess" on the public airwaves.

Well I had some other name originally but forgot the password and re-upped. But there are still some "old timers" like us around. I think it's fair to say I have visited FR every day since joining except vacation days with no internet available.

You are #1192

I'm #1236.

I found FR on 12/03/97 but didn't bother to register for almost 2 months later.

I would give anything to go back in time and be sober when it came time to select my user name.

Why does making a mistake like this mean he is a complete idiot? Seems like an honest mistake, he was corrected, and that is that. Being a talk show host doesn't mean you have to be perfect.
