In a November 3 column in the Washington Post, Jim Hoagland confirmed that the Joseph Wilson affair was a CIA plot against President Bush. Writing his column in the form of a letter to the President, Hoagland wrote that "The hidden management of the criminal justice process and the news media practiced by spooks in Wilson-Rove-Libbygate is nothing short of brilliant. So you were right to fear the agency."
Think about that statement to the President"you were right to fear the agency."

True!!!!!!!!
;)
And Richard Clarke at the White House. Generally, the Bush people can be given high marks for being politically astute, but they had a blind spot, assuming that incumbent government officials would be loyal to the president, even when the White House changed parties.
I just got home and saw this thread pinged to me....
I am curious...this is an explosive article, IMHO...why then, are there only 60 something posts???
Maybe I am thinking it is more important than others...if so, could someone enlighten me???
Makes me think of Gary Condit. Didn't he vote for impeachment?
ping!
I think the reason there are only some 60 posts is that this is in reference to a column that appeared in the Wa. Post about four weeks ago, and there was considerable reaction to it on FR then.
True that Federal employees can't be fired but there are numerous ways around that problem.
Transfer them.
Put them in jobs they are going to hate.
Create new positions OVER them.
Institute another hierarchy such as ADM Jacoby did at DIA when he couldn't get rid of the entrenched "old guard" there.
WE could also do our part and elect Congress Critters who projmise to halve Gommit by half. If there were a 50% reduction in the Government, these yodels would be either forcibly retired, or working in Alaska or some equivalently wonderful place. /sarc
Oh---now I am embarrassed----thanks.
No reason to be embarrassed. Frankly, I appreciate re-posts of news items and commentary because more times than not, I miss them the first go around.
bttt
That is what happened to me....I try to check the new threads as often as I can....but, on a busy news day...I miss a LOT of good ones...
For many years, the Department of the Interior was the dumping ground for worthless federal employees. Then, under Jimmah Cahtah, they got real power over the coal industry. I remember a couple of fart-brain GS-15s who came around the place I worked. They were laughable but they could put you out of business.
No, he was being 100% honest about the WMDs. We didn't find them because they were all moved and destroyed while we wasted precious time, and all the stuff that happened afterwards was their attempt to deflect the blame for that failure.
Research bump.

"Do you think Tenet's "slam dunk" comment was a set-up from the get-go?'
Yes.
I'm trying to get this around. Look for the Magistrate Judge Robinson. The Judge in Berger's affair.
