We have a hog rendering plant near here full of mexicans too, you wanna know why Americans do not want to go work there? Maybe it has to do with all the ILLEGALS and all the Spanish!!!!

Take a trip to Wal mart in beardstown why don't you. People are not only moving away from that area because of the hog rendering plant, they are moving away from there because Americans are a MINORITY there.

They can lay in there own bed, after all they made it. Wages were not always what they are now and if all the illegals didn't exist there Americans WOULD take those jobs.

haha....hey, he campaigned on this issue....so telling me to run for office is ludicrous....does that mean if you villify the Dems....someone should tell you to "run for office".....we should be able to....even here on FR give reasonable debate....."reasonable"....which I think I am

It's good to disagree, but let's not treat this issue as a surprise.

Let's propose eliminating the benefits, like welfare and such and then a guest worker program will look a lot different.

I just heard and saw it.

Maybe it is my imagination, but I didn’t find a lot of enthusiasm from the audience. I think there were places Jorge thought the audience would applaud but didn’t.

I kind of thought it was a bomb. But maybe it is wishful and mean thinking on my part.

"He just promised to construct physical barriers to prevent illegals from crossing in the first place. Barriers. New patrol roads, new vehicle barriers, more fencing in urban areas to stop human smuggling corridors. Allocated 70 million dollars for this.

Not bad."

Only $70 million? That's an insult.

Promised Interior Enforcement. Wants to enforce immigration laws throughout the land. Better worksite enforcement.

I sure hope so. Now, show results to go along with those promises.

Great Pictures.

Guess we are going to have start to vote for folks who will do jobs that Bush isn't willing to do.

His speech said nothing new. It was an insult to the security or safety and intelligence of the American taxpayer.

We need a fence.

I hope their ratings continue to fall so far down, they have to get a shovel to keep up with it.

According to most of the people on this thread, Bush might as well go fishing for the next 3 years. Nothing he does is going to be good enough anyway.

I got the same sense you did---the audience heard very little to cheer.

Probably because the President didn't say anything of substance.

uh, your favorite, Reagan endorsed amnesty. Bush said quite clearly that the laws ARE to be strictly enforced. Were you even listening!!??? Did you hear the stats he read off about the improvements he HAS made during his 5 years???!!!
Good grief!! I can't believe these complainers on this thread!!

"There is nothing the President can say or do that will win approval from the Tancredo clan"

He could admit that the INVASION of Illegals is the largest problem this nation faces and deploy the military to stop all border intrusions....you know something the constituion requires that he and congress actually DO!

yes.....I"ve never had a problem with a legit guest worker program as long as the borders are secured and illegals are systematically either rounded up or this border running is put to a screeching halt.......

LOL, I'm serious! Really! Why not? Plenty of people respond to this issue.

(BTW, this President has always been an open borders guy from his Texas days)

"I'm still waiting to hear an apology for calling the Minutemen vigilantes."

Yes. That would be right and good evidence that the man if finally getting it.

I am disappointed to see that he still does not get it.

Prayers for our country.

Your picture and caption of the "Bush & Fox Duo" is absolutrly hilarious! It's also tragic because it's true.

Now he's talking about the guest worker amnesty. Somehow, giving 11 million plus illegals a guest worker amnesty is going to "relieve the pressure on the borders."

How? Amnesties ALWAYS serve as a magnet for more illegal immigration, not less! Does he thing we're that stupid?

(Yes, he does.)

"You work at MacDonald's?"

Is that so shameful? Yes, I worked for minimum wage in high school and college.

Others went to spring break to flash their boobs publicly. They apparently believe that everyone does that, and nobody in their right mind would ever work.
