Good grief!! I can't believe these complainers on this thread!!

What's he going to do to build on the improvements during the next three years?

His heart just wasn't in this speech.

If I were president, on 9-11-01, I would have shut our Northern and Southern borders down so tight, a cockroach couldn't sneak through.

If we get hit hard again.......

Reagan also said amnesty was his biggest mistake and one that most of us have learned from. Bush keeps saying he's not in favor of amnesty but anyone who knows what 1 and 1 equals also knows "temporary" workers never go home, never have and never will except once when Eisenhower made them. Good luck if you ever see that happen again.

We're not interested in pretty words.

The only thing that will do is:

A) Close the border.

and...

B) Enforce existing U.S. Immigration laws.

It really isn't complicated.

This is nothing but rhetoric. We want action.

Some people on this forum wouldn't be satisfied if we burned illegals at the stake. Lets clone velociraptors like in Jurassic Park to patrol our borders and eat intruders [sarcasm]

Smoke and mirrors. They caught more because more were coming across. Throwing money at the problem isn't accomplishing much of anything. I'll believe his stats if he could show an actual reduction in the number of criminal invaders who made it across the border and another reduction in the number of those already here. There are well over 10 million criminal invaders already here in the U.S., has that number dropped at all since Bush took office? No. Then his results are crap. Has he reduced the rate of increase? Who knows? Who cares? The Republicans in Congress and the President point to so-called "spending cuts" which are really just small reductions in the rate of spending increases. Bogus. Show me results and I'll start believing what you have to say.

Reagan did embrace amnesty and it seems you forget WHY! He allowed congress to start reform with a clean plate. What it boils down to is that....well....plainly stated....congress just chose to do nothing and fill the plate with cr@p again.
