WHITEWATER, WI (AP) - Bernie Dalsey is taking some ideas from the Democratic Party, some from the Republicans and some of his own - and he's creating his own party: the Justice Party.
The 47-year-old Whitewater resident has become so disgusted with American government and politics that he wanted to start his own party.
"I feel there's a big void," Dalsey said. "I thought, 'What the hell? Nobody else is doing it.' "
After all, some historians believe the Republican party was started in Ripon, WI in 1854.
Dalsey, a former Green and Libertarian candidate for state Assembly, has called the Federal Election Commission and the Wisconsin Elections Board to get authorization for the party name to appear on the ballots, if any candidates surface.
He set up a nonstock company to help manage funding and a Web site.
Dalsey is currently the only official party member, although he said several people he's spoken with agree with many of his stances.
Dalsey predominantly leans to the left side of the political spectrum, believing the Democrats are marginally better than the Republicans in a two-party system.
He wants to see national health care, supports abortion rights and would like to see a higher tax on the wealthy.
But he also supports gun rights, opposes same-sex marriages and wants to close America's borders to illegal immigrants.
"It doesn't make any sense to me to take everything from just the left, the right or the middle," Dalsey said of his views. "There are good ideas on the left, the right and in the middle. It's best to see what makes sense."
Some of the ideas are extreme, including closing all overseas U.S. military bases, severely limiting special-interest dollars in political campaigning and eliminating all foreign aid.
Dalsey is targeting nonvoters as those most willing to follow the Justice Party.
I'll join your party, as long as we pay for that chocolate by placing a higher tax on the poor.
No, it's the Constipation Party.
In other words, The Justice Party is simply a milder American variant of the National Socialist party, except on gun rights.
I can see "Common Sense Party" founder Sen. Bob Smith groaning and shaking his head.
Hope he's a Pied Pipper and leads a bunch of rats away :-)!
A couple more members and he'll have about the same amount of total knowledge that the Dem party has....
He sounds like a lot of Democrats.
sounds like he wants a time machine to recreate the 1945 democratic party
Sounds like a dejected Green party member.
"THE AMERICAN CONSERVATIVE PARTY. Sounds like a good name to me... :-)"
The ACP. I like it.
Yes, we will close all military bases overseas and stop all foreign aid, so that we can use all that extra money to buy votes for our party by promising it to them.
A packers fan?
Well, well, well. I have some questions. I am on board with a new political party. Here is what I want.
I want law makers to quit passing laws to shape citizen behavior.
I want abortion laws to be voted on by the people of each state.
I want the current tax code thrown out and I want to start over.
I want the federal government to start surrendering power to the states. Funding and all. We can start with education, wellfare, etc.
I want the federal government to own the borders and use military powers to defend our country from the invasion of one or one million.
I want citizens to be responsible for their own health, happiness, wealth, and actions.
I want federal government to manage space exploration, national security, international trade, treaties, neation currency, interstate commerce, and enforce the constitution.
I want the federal government to fight drugs in other countries and assist the state police forces as is necessary
I want the government to reinstate the nasty rotten CIA powers and to keep their ugly doings in the interest of national security a secret from me.
Does his party want me?
Its a party about 'nothing'.
I think he's watched too many 'Seinfeld' episodes.
So what part of the Constitution Party platform do you disagree with? From my experience here on Freerepublic, those that disparage the the far right are usually left of center. I'm guessing you're either a homosexual, a sissy, pro-abortion, anti-gun, pro-illegal immigration, an aethiest, a dope smoker, anti-war, a vegetarian, a marxist or any combination of the above.
I was thinking the same thing. It's a pity that so many "conservatives" are so quick to bash the Constitution Party because it isn't big enough for them. If people here would actually look at their platform I'm sure that most would see that it is a conservative party in a much truer sense than the republicans. The only big thing that I don't like about them, and the one thing that would keep me from voting for a CP candidate, is their head in the sand mentality when it comes to the middle east and the War on Terror (a trait that every single third party seems to share for some stupid reason).
Well, actually, there's nothing in their platform I disagree with, just the concept of third party politics. They are losers, whether it be the Libertarian or Constitution Party.
Especially in today's world when conservative votes are so precious, wasting it on a third party is retarded. Want to make a difference, take over your regional GOP party from within, that's how to be most effective, QUICKLY, like in your lifetime.
I guess by your slam, you are a Pat Buchanan, David Duke style isolationist.
All three of the pro-gun, anti-abortion socialist voters in the country should thank him.
Whoops! My bad.
All three of the pro-gun, pro-abortion, pro-tax, anti-gay socialist voters in the country should thank him!
