CNN OPERATOR FIRED AFTER SUGGESTING 'X' OVER CHENEY WAS 'FREE SPEECH'
Drudge Report ^ | Nov. 28, 2005 | Mr. Drudge

Posted on 11/28/2005 10:22:38 AM PST by conservativecorner

A CNN switchboard operator was fired over the holiday -- after the operator claimed the 'X' placed over Vice President's Dick Cheney's face was "free speech!"

"We did it just to make a point. Tell them to stop lying, Bush and Cheney," the CNN operator said to a caller. "Bring our soldiers home."

The caller initially phoned the network to complain about the all-news channel flashing an "X' over Cheney as he gave an address live from Washington.

"Was it not freedom of speech? Yes or No?" the CNN operator explained.

"If you don't like it, don't watch."

Laurie Goldberg, Senior Vice President for Public Relations with CNN, said in a release:

"A Turner switchboard operator was fired today after we were alerted to a conversation the operator had with a caller in which the operator lost his temper and expressed his personal views -- behavior that was totally inappropriate. His comments did not reflect the views of CNN. We are reaching out to the caller and expressing our deep regret to her and apologizing that she did not get the courtesy entitled to her. "

"If you don't like it, don't watch."

Best advice I can think of - Don't watch, nobody else does.

This still doesn't expain how it happened. The idea that it was inadvertent and a 'glitch' is beyond laughable.

Its becoming more and more common for the Liberal media to use one of their minions to carry out a dirty deed, and then push the minion over the side of the boat so that the others may survive. Dan Rather, Mary Mapes, Judith Miller, this clown at CNN, etc.

They're getting desperate, ratings and print media in serious decline, not looking good for the Lib's.

I always love when these types complain about their 'freedom of speech' after they do/say something beyond obnoxious and lose their job. Another perfect example is the prof at Univ. of Denver(?) who compared the WTC victims to 'little Eichnens'.

Freedom of speech is an incredible right. Say what you want when you want and express yourself how you feel. But never forget that if you say something offensive, controversial, abrasive, etc., you are open to the freedom of speech from others!

The freedom of speech of others and those who may not agree with you is something that the left always seems to forget. But then again, why should we question our 'moral and intellectual superiors'?
