Operation Digital Camera: Taking the photos of our troops that the Media won't take.

I have an idea- why not send some digital cameras over to our guys and gals in Iraq and ask them to send back some photos for us. I will compile a list of people with servers, who will post the photos here at FR- perhaps we could use this thread for a meeting place. My hope is that blogs and friendly media can pick up the photos and spread them around a bit. What we need are:

1)People and organizations who are willing to donate cameras and get them to our troops. 2)Names of people who can receive the cameras over there and who will email the shots back to us. 3) Contacts to get the word out to people who already have digital cameras that we will post them on FR for the world to see. 4)People to bump this thread and pass the idea around.

Screw the media- lets just do the job ourselves.

One of the problems is that each troop is alloted a certain amount of kb per day to transmit. Unless they are at an Internet cafe, they won't want to use their allotment sending pics.

True, but if somebody has a laptop with a CD burner, a CD could be snail-mailed.

Another idea for maybe breaking this up.

get some digitals and some disposable volunteers.

Those that do disposable, they mail the disposable with the addresses of who to mail them back to.

I would be one of the volunteer receivers.

Do that: right click and then view properties. Cut or copy the FULL link.


And then paste location of the photo at FR. You can post it to FR if you add this:

and close the tag with an * >

Delete * and spaces.

Preview first. You can spot an error beforehand. Just saying, from, my goofups.

That way, linked photos go to the pic's host. Which may or not be there for a long time. If you want to keep the pic beyond their time frame, set up a free account and save it yourself.
