In Strong Terms, Rome Is to Ban Gays as Priests By IAN FISHER and LAURIE GOODSTEIN ROME, Nov. 22 - A new Vatican document excludes from the priesthood most gay men, with few exceptions, banning in strong and specific language candidates "who are actively homosexual, have deep-seated homosexual tendencies, or support the so-called 'gay culture.' "
The long-awaited document, which has leaked out in sections over the last few months, was published Tuesday in Italian by an Italian Catholic Web site, AdistaOnline.it.

Remember on thing aout Pope B16, he is german. Germans value discpline, he is cleaning house. He did it under Pope John Paul II he is continuing it now.
Actually, this is one of the things that has protected the Church, because it is more advantageous to the government than to the Church. These services are provided below cost and at expense to itself, with money coming from various Catholic sources as well. When the late Cardinal O'Connor had a conflict with the City of New York over city-sponsored sex education (naturally, featuring on-site contraceptive distribution and free rides to the abortion mill) in the group foster homes, he simply threatened to close them all. There was no way the city could provide these services itself, and he had them over a barrel - they gave in.
That said, there is a faint possibility that somebody will try to sue. I believe this is currently being attempted somewhere in Canada, but I could be wrong. Maybe it was just a threat. In any case, I don't think they'd get very far here, but you never know.
If he acts on any of his sexual desires, he has sinned (regardless if it is with a man or a woman, an adult or a child).
This is the point that so many people miss. The rules are not written just to target homosexuals.

To my mind, anyone who persists in a behavior that is considered contemptible by an overwhelming majority of the population is not to be placed in any position of trust.
It sounds like the best possible statement, given that the ban will be difficult to enforce. Nevertheless, the ban does several important things. Primarily, it tells unrepentant homosexuals that they're not welcome into the priesthood. Secondly, this statement will provide a means for removing overt homosexuals from the priesthood. Thirdly, the statement will help to suppress homosexuality in the seminaries. Finally, the statement may help the public to make the connection between homosexuality and sexual abuse of young men by priests.
Overall, this is very good news. But expect an all-out war against the Church in the West. Satan is not happy this morning.
I'm amazed it took them so long to decide that the Bible is correct and that they ought to adhere to its standards...
"Secondly, this statement will provide a means for removing overt homosexuals from the priesthood."
I believe The Catholic church knows of HUNDREDS of
homosexuals AND SEVERAL BISHOPS that would be in violation
of an order like this (if this is even a true order).
Will the Catholic Church immediately suspend these people?
That will be the test.
How would the pope know that an American bishop is a homosexual? He might know that an American bishop is a homosexual sympathizer. The problem is, the bishops who are homosexual sympathizers know how to walk the line.
(if this is even a true order).
The full text has been published in an Italian paper, so it appears to be authentic.
I see the 2,472 homosexuals who work at the NY Times have their panties in a wad.
Funny. Where did your Bible come from? Did it drop from the sky at Pentecost? Or did the Catholic Church write, canonize and preserve it?
You're sawing off the branch you're sitting on.
And what's your infallible interpretation of the following Scripture verses?
"If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector." --Jesus"if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God's household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth." --1 Timothy 3:15
This is just the beginning. I don't think they were prepared for this.
The Bishops and cardinals in the U.S. hid this from
the faithful-Since the 60's. They still do not announce
to people they have been actively recruiting sinners and
heretics to become priests!
I think the Episcopalians finally recieved the slap in the
face installing an open heretic to the faith-Gene Robinson-
This split of the faithful - Based on Sin- and homosexual
men wanting to destroy ALL Christian religions is one of
the largest stories in 2000 YEARS! I Pray for strength to
come to Rome and the Episcopalians and All the Other
Christian denominations under satans assault - to reject
the evil men that have entered into their lives.
A Catholic priest, at least one who is a pastor, is more than a preacher or expounder of doctrine.
He is supposed to lead his flock by example as well as by word.
The document (as leaked) says it very well - a man who finds men more attractive than women cannot establish normal relations with either men OR women, at least not the normal relations that the Church desires its pastoral leaders to have.
This is clear and, within the terms of reference of Roman Cathlicism, convincing.
About time.
In your dreams.
Some critics both in and out of the church have accused the Vatican of using gay priests as a scapegoat for that scandal, a charge the church has vigorously denied. Experts have noted that is incorrect to equate pedophilia with homosexuality.
