CNN Vigorously Defends Cheney X-ing
After angry cries from bloggers and conservative pundits over a large, superimposed X broadcast over the face of Vice President Dick Cheney during his live speech from the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, CNN has issued a statement explaining that far from an underhanded prank or simple blunder, the X marked CNNs enthusiastic yes vote for the policies of the current administration.
CNN/U.S. president Jonathan Klein said through a spokesman, The X has long been associated with everything desirable in popular culture. Weve long believed Cheney to have the elusive X-factor that is so sought- after in the latest fashion trend, celebrity, or reality TV show.
X? said Paula Zahn, Why thats just a big wet smooch for our favorite Veep!
CNN on-air personality Larry King described the X as the kind of letter that says bang youre the top, kid. X marks the spot.
King noted that, to many, a big black X could only mean that Dick Cheney is a trove of buried treasure.
Piracy expert Ian McLaughlan doubted Kings confident assertion.
Its a common misconception that pirates buried their booty under large Xs. Unfortunately, this is mostly Hollywood myth making. The typical pirate of the 18th and 19th century was much more likely to use a tree, rock outcropping, or other natural feature to disguise the location of his loot. Xs fell in to disuse almost immediately after they were first devised by Black Will Blake in 1718, mostly due to the fact that they were wildly ineffective at disguising buried plunder.
For this and other reasons, CNN critics have insisted that X can only be taken as an indication of disapproval or denunciation, citing such famous Xs as ex- show, Crossfire; ex-anchor, Aaron Brown; and ex- cable- news- leader, CNN.
Secretary of State Condeleeza Rice, whose unusual glowing white eyes easily detected the near- subliminal flashing pattern long before it was noted by a cadre of bloggers with frame- by- frame analysis, is expected to discuss the controversy in a speech tomorrow, entitled What Filename I Chose When Composing My Speech About CNN.
lol
And they want us to believe that?
Let CNN put the X over Schumer, Kennedy, Biden, Hillary and Pelosi's face next time they are on.
I'd prefer they pulled a blanket over their heads.
This might explain why they gave the Clinton Administration three of them.
ROTFLMAO
Another good satire post, StoneGiant.
:-)
UN PATRIOTIC SCUMBAGS........THEY'RE ALSO LIARS.........
I was thinking 3 mil plastic and a couple of zip-ties
The sound you heard while reading this was my jaw hitting the floor.
YOU...HAVE...GOT...TO...BE...KIDDING!!
CAN'T THE FCC STEP IN OR ATLEAST FORCE A "PAYBACK" OF SORTS?
An "X" over Hillary's face during a speech will suffice. (or Reid or Dean, etc.)
The fact that CNN sounds so ridiculous explaining this away ... they sound like a group of preteens getting caught telling a whopper.
Works for me.
When you are at the bottom of your own grave with a shovel in your hand, STOP DIGGING.
CNN snuck in and put a red "X" over your graphic, too!
XFox PZahn =ZDem XOXO's!!
I watched CNN last night at 10pm PST and local time 1am EST. A female voice commenting on GWB's foray to Asia, seemed to positively enthuse, with a voice of delight, to this effect. That no matter where the President goes,Iraq followed him. I felt bad then, but worse was to follow. .
A man's voice in the press group said this to the President. "You do not seem to be on your game,Mr President". The President tersely replied- "try jet lag" .At the last Presidential election, I said to the T/V,just let GWB win this one, satisfied I will be,and no more prayers answered. I take it back. Another kind of big win that will upset CNN and others,I pray for- just once- please. Cheerfully,I can only describe the whole cabal thus:
Swine
Many Freepers are unable to detect satire, I'm afraid.
Gee, I thought they said it was a computer bug. sarcasm
Gee, it's too bad that there are those with pea size brains and no maturity working at CNN.
