Remind anyone of Independence Day?
It hung around all day, barely moved. I counted 5 more around Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, smaller and off in the distance.
It was something to see.

Yeah, it looks like that mushroom cloud. What causes it? does it happen very often, or was it a one-time phenomenon?

Were they clouds you had ever seen before? Sounds like they were huge. Were there weather conditions that caused the formations?
