It sounds to me like he meant that American troops had become the enemy of the Iraqi people. If so, he is in effect equating American soldiers with terrorists. If a real general, like George Patton were alive today, this blubbering coward would get the verbal slap upside the head he so richly deserves.

I wonder if the average Iraqi woman, whose status has been lower than the family goat up until now, would agree with him.

Murtha also said that VICTORY is not an exit strategy.

Do you think they're all insane, or are they just drunk?

Maybe Senator Turbin wrote Murtha's speech?

I believe that Rep. Murtha meant something along the lines of, "We have seen the enemy and he is us."

He looks verrrrry unsteady... but he seems mentally awake. All I can equate from this is that after so many years of sitting on THAT side of the aisle... his spine has turned to pudding.

Too bad his name had to be associated with the Marine Corps.

Mothra O Mothra
If we were to call for help
Over time Over sea
Like a wave you'd come
Our guardian angel

Mothra O Mothra
Of forgotten kindness
And ruined spirits
We pray for the people's
Spirit as we sing
This song of love.

Soory folks I could not resist. Hopefully one of the radio guys will play the Song of Mothra. Pelosi and McKinney could be the twin priestesses.

"What an asinine thing to say. OF COURSE ARE TROOPS ARE THE ENEMY OF THE TERRORIST!! That is exactly the way WE WANT IT!"

I agree Murtha is the enemy of our troops and us. I classify him as a TERRORIST. He is part of the enemy WITHIN.

"He looks verrrrry unsteady... but he seems mentally awake."

A retired general on Fox yesterday said he, like the White House, was baffled by Murtha's action. The general noted that Murtha had been spending a lot of time visiting the wounded troops and that, perhaps, the constant exposure of this kind had gotten to him.

Watch Out What You Wish For - - My view is that maybe it made him vulnerable to his fellow Dems suggesting that his Marine experience, combined with a strong anti-Bush statement would, WITH THE DIRECT ASSISTANCE OF THE MSM focusing on his military backgroud, elevate him to a "popular leader", as opposed to a formal, leadership position; similar to McGovern in the Vietnam era. DEM/MSM propped him out there in front and used him and the Republican's called their bluff, and it backfired (Will the MSM cartoons show him bending over the carburetor with a sooth covered face?). He only ends up being a loser who led his party to a quick slaughter. So now he'll just get two weeks as an MSM media darling, then he will only be recalled as an example of the negative possibilities of "getting what you wished for".

I think he also called American SOldiers the "catalyst for violence" in Iraq.

Our troops have become the enemy. We need to change direction in Iraq

I heard him say these words on C-SPAN while reading his original "rsolution" to the House.

The truth is: Democrats and the Slime media have made our troops the enemy in Iraq. Americans have had enough of it!

Or Wesley Clark, perhaps?

"Our troops have become the enemy"

The troops ARE the enemy to the liberal left. If you support the troops, you don't magnify every problem in the ranks. If you support the troops, you don't focus on every stumbling block they encounter. If you support the troops, you don't disparage the mission and say it was based on a lie. If you support the troops, you don't constantly say their strategy and tactics are failing. If you support the troops, you don't shed crocodile tears while trumpeting the numbers of KIA, while never putting those numbers into perspective. If you support the troops, you don't ban military recruiters from a campus. If you support the troops, you don't cherry pick months when recruiting numbers are down and use that as a talking point while staying silent when the recruiting numbers are up.

This is another example of the liberal split personality....they say they are strong on defense, but they sure appear to despise the military.

Right On...

Murtha was readig an intro to his press statement , referring to polls that 45% of the Iraq people thought it was good to attack US troops now in Iraq. Thats the context he used to say:

" Our troops have become the enemy ( Of the Iraq people, ie they don't want us there?)

Of course he said nothing about who conducted the poll.
Since when do we compose foreign policy by using foreign polls? Murtha is either senile or being paid by Soros?

"Since when do we compose foreign policy by using foreign polls?"

The liberal answer is "since we decided it's OK to make the WOT political"

Liberals think it's OK to manipulate polls, news stories and data if it furthers their political agenda and makes GWB look bad.

Our troops have become the enemy
I think Murtha is being misinterpreted by some here. I also think that Murtha is confused. It appears to me that Islamofanatics are turning on their own kind. Far more Muslims are being murdered than American troops. And his assinine comments about Abu Ghraib being the turning point are utterly ridiculous. I think that he's gone fuzzy-headed.

This man Murtha is like Hanoi Jane for this war. Write to YOUR congressman to find out how he can be expelled from House for treason and cowardice. America needs your help. We cannot survive terrorism within America, and he is traitor allowing them in. Calling Murtha is useless as he is coward. Call your House member and demand expulsion.
