They use depleted uranium in some ammunition. It is heavier than lead. It is very slightly radioactive (less radioactive than, say, a lantern mantle), but it has a lower chemical toxicity than lead.

I rode the gunners seat in an M-1 for years placed snuggly betwixed 57 main gun rounds of which half were Depleated Uranium APFSDS rounds! The Depleated Uranium rounds made my urine glow and my watch never needs to be recharged. It puts out more light than a 75 watt bulb!
