CHICAGO, Nov. 16 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Earlier today, the Federal Election Commission returned organizational documents to Draft Rudy Giuliani for President, Inc., making the campaign the first and only federal committee formed with the sole purpose of encouraging former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani to run for President of the United States in 2008.

"This is the beginning of a nationwide effort to show Mayor Giuliani the tremendous support that exists throughout the United States for a Giuliani presidential candidacy," said Allen Fore, a veteran Republican political consultant and co-founder of Draft Rudy Giuliani for President. "America needs and wants this great man to lead our nation. We're starting the grassroots effort to make a Giuliani candidacy a reality."

Recent polls -- including a survey released on November 12 by Rasmussen Reports, indicate that Giuliani is currently the favorite presidential candidate among Republican voters, leading both Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Senator John McCain.

"We are absolutely convinced that with the current climate in Washington, Rudy Giuliani would be an excellent Republican nominee," said the group's other co-founder, Nicholas Tyszka. "There hasn't been a time in recent memory when Washington has been so divisive. The great thing about Mayor Giuliani is that he has such a broad-base of appeal, even cutting across political lines. America knows Rudy Giuliani as a proven leader who has demonstrated success. That's the kind of leadership that Americans want in Washington right now."

More information about Draft Rudy Giuliani for President can be found online at: http://www.draftrudygiuliani.com

At this website, visitors can sign a pledge encouraging Giuliani to run, volunteer to help the campaign, and make contributions that will fund a national advertising campaign.

Right. Rudi Guiliani is a social liberal, in the spirit of Gov Ahnold Schwarzy. Pro-abortion, pro-gun control, pro-homo rights, pro-big govt and pro-envirowackoism.

No thanks.

I have a feeling McCain is thinking of running with Giuliani as his VP or vise-versa either way it would be a formidable ticket!

I know - I have fun with this though. People get so overwrought over this. They really shouldn't because its too early yet. Even if he does run - No big deal they just don't vote for him if they don't like him.

"I would vote for Giuliani"

So would I. I'd much rather Rudy than Hillary, or any other democrat.

I don't have any problems with Guiliani running for President - as long as he runs as a Democrat.

That was (is) my opinion of GWB in 2004. An outstanding Democrat president.

so what's his worst sin? abandoning a sick wife for a newer model? hard to overcome. even my kid who thinks the world of Guliani was taken aback when I explained his shortcomings. We decided Rudy G. could use 9-11 as his re-birth and lanch from there. Worked for GWB. He didn't leave an ill spouse (terrible) but wasn't exactly without his problems early on. Of course Rudy was in his 50's when he did his deed. That's a little bit of a stretch to use as a youthful phase. Even for politicians :).

Plus he could defeat hilldebeast.
He needs your suppoort along with james dobson and pat robertson.
He will appoint amazingly good judges and cabinet officals.

You are, of course, correct. He would be an outstanding Democrat President for the late 50's, early 60's. Nowadays, however, he's a Republican, 'cause the Democrats have headed off into commie-pinko eurosocialist land.
However Guliani is a moderate Democrat - today!

For the last time, neither Rudy Who? nor mc pain has the lightest chance of winning the GOP nomination for president. Being pro gay marriage and pro partial birth abortion like Rudy Who? or being as big an obstructionist as ted kenndy like mc pain, will win a GOP primary.
This is a stupid waste of time. When mcpain wasn't even known as the obstructionist he is, he only got 19% in the South Carolina primary. He only did well in cross over primary states were his democrat fans can vote for him.
The gay marriage a pba issues will be so hot by 2008 that I predict Rudy Who? won't even take the plunge.

Well, if he's running for the nomination by the Abortion Party (aka. Democrat Party) then I can see why.

Why not Specter instead of Rudy? Specter once ran for President, remember that?

The popularity of Rudy in the South is phenominal. He is a very popular figure everywhere he goes. Don't count him out just because of social issues. We are truly fooling ourselves if we think just because he's not popular on FreeRepublic he is unpopular all over the U.S.

You are right about Rudy. In 2004, he spoke at the Winter Convocation for the University of Oklahoma. Took my daughter and her friend because we wanted to hear Rudy. He is a great speaker and had some really funny stories to tell that happened to him over his career.

He talked about how much he loved this President, and the need for the War on Terror and the FACULTY Senate members sitting behind the podium started nodding their head in agreement. From President Boren to the Faculty Senate they loved Rudy -- it was astounding to watch. You would have thought we were at the most conservative university in America because his speech was rock ribbed conservative and very impressive.

We felt like he was talking direct to each of us -- it was an AWESOME speech.

"He's a MAJOR SOCIAL LIBERAL."

He's an authoritarian who has little use for the Constitution but there are lots of folks on FR who like that combination.

Then we'll have a President Hillary Clinton. Do you want that?
