A public spat between Rush Limbaugh and Democratic Iowa Senator Tom Harkin has now hit both the Senate floor and the airwaves. The bout of nastiness began on Nov. 7 when Harkin presented a defense bill calling for fair and balanced programming on the Armed Forces Radio. While Limbaughs conservative show is broadcast on the network, listeners are not offered a liberal alternative, says Harkin. Hed like to see a liberal talk show like Ed Schultz or Al Franken added. Limbaugh was not pleased, so on his show the next day he referred to Harkin as Dung Heap. More recently, Harkin lambasted Limbaugh on the senate floor, saying Limbaugh wouldnt know the truth if it hit him in the face, according to the Des Moines Register. And Limbaugh has taken to calling the senator Dung Heap Harkin on the air. This was a reference to a comment made by Harkin years ago, in which he called Bill Clintons impeachment charges a pile of dung, according to the Register.
He was a Ferry Pilot stationed in Japan. Never even flew over the coast of Vietnam.
That prompted me to call and suggest the Senator get the dung out of his calculator.
You bet. This reeks of Err America.
This is something our gang needs to monitor and be aware of. There's a general link at the Pacifica site (hate to give them the hits but this is opposition research). And media coverage of their 2005 conference is presented HERE
You may be wrong. I believe whale dung rises to the top, just like the dung in the Senate.
Maybe we could play Al Franken's show over the loudspeakers at Abu Ghraib prison.
What a lying sack of dung...drum roll please
okay, now that's funny
Nope. The reference is to Harkins' comments during Clinton's impeachment trial -- the impartial juror described the charges as "a pile of dung".

NPR has some talk shows on Armed Forces Radio, other programming too. IIRC Rush said only one hour of his show is carried each day

Nope. It came from impeachment. That was when he got the nick.
More like a cesspit.
I stand corrected, I am not an expert on whale excrement; but the thought is still the same. The Senate, in this case Harkin, is just below a pile of whale ***t............
I think calling Harkin a dung heap is an insult to good, well respected dung heaps.
Ortega must be thinking: "These guys are bigger communists than me!"
I believe Harkin is more aptly referred to as a 'steaming heap of dung' or a 'steaming dumg heap'. Harking is as useful as titties on a boar hog.
