HANNIBAL, N.Y. (AP) Some boys and girls in an Oswego County school district must sit in separate sections of their school buses following the arrest of two students for engaging in sexual activity on their ride home.
State police said a 14-year-old boy was charged in juvenile court with forcing a 13-year-old girl into a sexual act and a 16-year-old boy was charged with a misdemeanor count of sexual misconduct involving a 14-year-old girl.
Investigator Stephen Cadwell said the Hannibal Central Schools students were all on the same after-hours bus ride Nov. 7.
"These cases are coincidental," Cadwell said. "There was no conspiracy."
Superintendent Michael DiFabio said boys and girls now are riding separately on three after-hours bus runs, which service up to 15 students each from sports or extracurricular activities at the middle and high schools.
"Parents expect a safe environment, and this does not provide a safe environment," DiFabio said. "It's embarrassing for the district to admit things like this happened. I just apologize to the parents for having this happen."
The school and state police began an investigation after the 13-year-old girl told her mother. Both boys were awaiting court appearances.
Hannibal is 29 miles northwest of Syracuse.
Ah, memories of being held down by the older kids as they tortured me with Bradley (last name deleted)'s drum stick.
The male gym teacher at my high school was getting Lewinskis from some of my classmates. This was during the first Bush administration.
So, do you always talk out of your ass like this, or just when you can display it for all the internet to see? Your display of ignorance is truly stupendous.
LOL...Where'd you go to high school? An acquaintance of mine in high school during the 1st Bush Admin was um, Lewinski-ing a gym teacher/coach. Granted, she was almost 18 and he was 26-ish and hot, but still...ew. I thought it was "totally gross". Of course, I thought any authority figure was "totally gross" back then.
It was a Catholic High School. The gym teacher had a mullet and a mustache. Kinda looked like the neighbor in "Office Space."
There's a Catholic school joke in there somewhere, but I'll leave it alone. (And I went to Catholic school for 9 years, so it's okay)
One of the best lines in Office Space is from the mullet guy:
Lawrence: [as Peter leaves to confess to Lumbergh about stealing money, knowing he may go to prison] "Peter... watch out for your cornhole, man..."
Moral Absolutes Ping.
I bet you're tired of stories like these; I know I am. I used to ride school buses a long time ago and there was never - NEVER - any activity like this on a school bus. Or at school. Maybe someone way in the back might try to light a cigarette, holding it out the window, and they were usually caught.
Warning - don't send your kids to school if you want them to not have to witness **** like this. Or be pressured or influenced into participating. Kids are very strongly influenced by what's going on around them. Even kids from very good families can go wrong - and it's usually the influence of other kids or adults around them (look at the 14 yr old girl and 18 yr old boy recently in PA).
Freepmail me if you want on/off this pinlgist.
Well, as a homeschooler, my kids don't spend a lot of time on school busses with other children.
You said: ...at least the boys weren't committing the sex acts on eachother...

I agree, but isn't this separation discriminatory of homosexual children, which, given the understanding and liberal nature of New York, likely to be in greater numbers than, say, my backward state of North Carolina? Where is GLAAD, etc? To make a boy sit beside a potential homosexual predator, why, how could they?
/sarc
The home schoolers who post every time there is a story involving public school children or teachers are disingenuous.
Is that all you got?
Yeah, you're right. Homeschooling is awfully. My kids would be a lot safer in a public school setting. /sarcasm
----Tragic.Just tragic, I say.
Liberalizm's often quoted PC Handbook says; playing gobble the salami is a genderless protected activity. But profiling ridership by gender, color, race, etc. or just for any reason is just not acceptable!
And then we have the above report.
Anybody got a scorecard for this crap? Common sense used to be so simple.
That's for sure. While crap like this existed before Clinton, his escapades during his presidency exascerbated the problems. Folks, keep in mind that shows started getting sleazier during Clinton's eight years in office.
Plus, I've heard time and again the myth that "if you're within three or four years, it's ok." Heck, I've even heard it from my health teacher in high school.
I'm not a legal expert, but I'm going to ask: can this be prosecuted as statutory rape, and if so, can we try as adults, convict, and lock these kids up for a while?
Why do I hold this view? Apparently, today's kids just aren't getting the message that they should NOT be having sex, especially if they're under their state's age of consent laws. Further, we as a society need to educate our youth on the legal prices of underage sex, and ramp up enforcement, prosecution, and corrections of these types of cases.
In short, sending some of the "repeat offenders" to prison and labeling them as sex offenders for the rest of their lives might be enough of a wake up call, such that they don't "do it". I know it's awfully harsh. But if it helps kids get the message, I say it is worth its weight.
Keep in mind that teen sex leads to a myriad of other societal problems, therefore, killing the root helps kill the plants and the seeds. While cutting down on teen sex won't eradicate our social ills (welfare, drug dependency, decay of marriage, etc.), it will no doubt help.
I've heard of stuff like this happening when I was in middle and high school. I graduated high school-class of '04. Though I was never social (and still am not), to not see these things happening was virtually impossible.
All I'm going to say here on said things is: kids will do anything in the hall, even if a vice-principal is nearby.
No, but I don't have time to put it into simpler terms that you might understand. Besides, I think it would be a wasted effort.
Yup. Happens in the "best" communities, like the one my sister lives in.
