In a just-completed interview with Fox News' Bill Hemmer, Bob Dole hailed the new Medicare prescription drug benefit as "a great program."
It's "great" for low-income people, he explained, because they'll have a very low deductible, and "good" for others.
Of course he didn't say how 'great' the program would be for the taxpayer or for future generations saddled with paying for it.
Of course Dole isn't alone in this. The program was created with the support of the President and most GOP congressmen.
Still, at this stage of his career, it's sad to see Dole flacking for big government.
Bob, if a little socialism is 'great,' would a lot of socialism be nirvana? Was Hillary right? Do we need 'free' national health care?
By the way, I included a "Kansas" topic, but wonder, ever since making that pledge in 1996 that he would either win or return to Kansas, I wonder how much of his time Dole has spent there, compared to time spent inside the Beltway.
This program will kill the country. Medicare is too, too, too much money.
I am disappointed in Senator Dole.
It is a nightmare. If you think the income tax rules and regs are difficult to understand, try this mess. Not even the best in the business, the best brains and minds will solve this disaster.
Bankruptcy may be the only solution.
In God We Trust.
In Government we trust less, maybe not all.
This morning WABC radio played a shrill woman bitterly complaining about being FORCED into this program. She went on to say there are no words to describe how angry she is.
No one is FORCED to participate.
I am on Medicare. I did not sign up nor do I intend to sign up. I have no prescription plan from any source.
Low income people will benefit, and most of the chain pharmacies have people on staff to help you decide which plan is best.
If the greedy geezers can get themselves down to their condos in Florida they can take the time to get informed.

Excellent point. It's not that socialism doesn't work, it's just that it's never really been tried ;-)
(Denny Crane: "I Don't Want To Socialize With A Pinko Liberal Democrat Commie.Say What You Like About Republicans. We Stick To Our Convictions. Even When We Know We're Dead Wrong.")
If the democrats don't like it and true conservatives don't like it, why don't we scrap it and make everyone happy?
"At this stage of his career, it's sad to see Dole still flacking for big government."
There.
Fixed.
Your comments are better suited to DU. It's not up to you to decide who lives and who dies.
You'll have to live another 66 years to get back just a fraction of what you could have earned on that money hadn't the Fed stole it from you.

Republicanism is nothing like Conservatism.
Anyone who thinks Bush or the GOP Congress is Conservative is delusional.
We were told in 1996 by the party establishment that it was Bob Dole's "turn" to be the presidential nominee. He got the nomination, though he was a weak candidate who stood little chance against Clinton. (I believe that it was Newt Gingrich who had earlier called Dole the "bagman" for the welfare state, during Newt's backbench bombthrowing days.)
In 2000 the party establishment wanted early on to push aside many of the GOP candidates so as to coronate George Bush, who barely eked out a narrow win over AlGore, and then opened the border gates even wider than Clinton and presided over more domestic spending than LBJ.
If the party insiders tell us who we must get behind in 2008, I recommend we put our hands over our billfolds and back out of the room carefully.
True and that is just what I paid, not the so called matching from my employer.
I don't think he has spent more than an hour a year back in Kansas. So much for these nutty PR Pledges.
As for this rotten Drug Prescription Bill... It's a piece of C***. I'm retired, and I can't make heads or tails out of it! It's way too expensive for the taxpayers, too!
I voted for Dole in '96, but he's always been a big-spending RINO.
