Forrester says Bush's troubles tilted the vote (Barf Alert)

It's all George W. Bush's fault.

Doug Forrester, in his first postelection interview, laid the blame for his loss in the governor's race last week directly at the feet of President Bush. He said the public's growing disaffection with Bush, especially after Hurricane Katrina, made it impossible for his campaign to overcome the built-in advantage Democrats have in a blue state like New Jersey.

"If Bush's numbers were where they were a year ago, or even six months ago, I think we would have won on Tuesday," Forrester said. "Katrina was the tipping point."

Forrrester shows his gratitude for President Bush's campaign help by playing the blame game. Unbelievable.

No offense, Doug, but maybe they just didn't like you. Ever think of that?

I am sure that the crappy campaign he ran had nothing to do with it.

NJ is controlled by libs. It is sad but true. Forrester lost because he could not convince the moderate democrats to vote for him.

I'm sure the fact that he tried to play the ex-wife card had nothing to do with it.

Forrester did not invite Bush to campaign for him. Maybe that's why he lost.

Doug, if you had been more like George Bush, if you had been at least somewhat conservative, if you hadn't run TV ads boasting about how you support legal infanticide, this New Jersey voter would've supported you.

Hey, in NC in 2000, the losing GOP governor candidate Richard Vinroot blamed his loss on Bush as well. Vinroot claimed he lost because Bush didn't win the state by enough votes.

Hmmm. Perhaps if Foreester had more in his arsenal besides his wife and Corzine's ex-wife, he could have found a way to overcome Corzine's outright buying of this election.

The most effective ads against Corzine were by Forrester's wife, extoling the virtues of her husband. Apparently gratitude to the President, the party and a host of good ideas were not amongst them.

Just like democrats trotted out the "evangelical christians voted in record numbers" crap to excuse Kerry's loss, Forrester is dragging out the "39%-popularity-rating Bush killed me" routine.

Got news for ya, Douglas: Perhaps you should have taken some of that money you spent on a loss and bought yourself some class.

I don't feel the slightest remorse for having written in "Ronald McDonald" instead of voting for this dull, uninspiring loser of a candidate.

Mr. Forrester . . . you lost because you are a dull, uninspiring candidate. Actually, you should have permanently retired from politics once you lost to that 175 year-old fossil Lautenberg three years ago. Oh, was President Bush responsible for that loss of yours, too?

Why bother voting for a Republican if the Republican campaigns like a Democrat? Republicans always think "go left" to gain votes. New Jersey conservatives are generally tired of liberal Republicans.

If he wanted to blame anyone, he should blame the Republican party for continuing to veer left.

Bush's lack of popularity is an excuse. Forrester couldn't defeat a corpse named The Laut when Bush's approval rating was 63%. There's something about RINOs inability to face the truth staring at them in the face.

Only NJ GOP could mess up such a good oppurtunity.

One of the issues in this election coming after Torch and McGreevy was coruption.

NJ republicans had the perfect law and order candidate in Chris Christie. The comparison between him and Corzine would have been great.

Christie also comes across as your average guy not some stiff bore like Forrester.
