He "bobs and weaves" when asked about running for president in 2008, according to the Washington Post's Al Kamen.
But Kamen says that New Mexico's popular Gov. Bill Richardson is telling friends his hat is in the ring for the presidency.
Kamen describes Richardson as "the former congressman, energy secretary, ambassador to the United Nations, globe-trotting troubleshooter" and notes he was in Washington last week to promote his new autobiography, "Between Worlds: The Making of an American Life."
During a Beltway dinner, Kamen writes, Richardson spilled the beans to dinner companions.
Questioned about his presidential plans, Richardson told friends, "You gotta read my book."
Richardson also said that governors were the future for Democrats.
A gentle slap at presidential wannabes Sens. Clinton, Kerry and Biden?
Richardson urged guests to "Keep your powder dry" in throwing support to another candidate.
"I'm running, and you can tell people that," two other dinner guests recalled him saying "I'm going in 2008," Kamen quotes Richardson.
Although on the positive side...he has never been charged with any crimes. So that might be a small plus on that. Hillery will love him as her VP...thats the whole angle. He will bring in the west vote in AZ and NM....and maybe even Neveda.
Is that why he wants to get back to Washington?? So he will be among "friends"?? lol
friend of bill? this poor guy richardson, if it true he is running, means he can no longer travel in airplanes.
President of what?
"Fresh off the boat" doesn't fit in any way, shape, manner, or form. Richardson was born here.
He does have the "distinction" of being the man who introduced Bill Clinton to Monica Lewinsky.
really? kudos to him for that lol
I think Richardson is a bigger threat than Hillary Clinton. Mrs. Clinton will never be President, no way not going to happen. She is way to polarizing. She will never get the so called moderate vote, at least not enough to get elected President.
Richardson on the other hand could grab some of the moderates that Hillary will never get ( and the ones Kerry couldn`t get a majority of either ).
He has a good demeanor and comes across as a straight shooter.
I will never vote for the guy but I think he is a very good candidate for the Democrats. He could have a shot. Plus isn`t he Hispanic. I would keep an eye on this guy.
The problem Richardson has is that he's not left wing enough to win his nomination. Right now, Dean runs that party, and it's the extreme left wing that's getting the voice. This is why Lieberman never stood a chance against Kerry, and he's (Lieb) the one democrat last year that could have hurt Bush.
"Los Alamos anyone"
The media will ignore it.
"This is why Lieberman never stood a chance against Kerry, and he's (Lieb) the one democrat last year that could have hurt Bush."
The problem with Lieberman is everyone liked him but wouldn`t vote for him because he comes across as a weakling. Persona plays a big role. Kerry had the whole veteran thing going for him. That was a big deal even with Dems. Its a natural draw. Kerry also had the anti-war history as well, which made it a double whammy. If Kerry is not a veteran, he would have never been the Dem nominee.
OH, RATS!
I'll never vote for that rino. Open border governor.
Only in my home state of Florida. I thought the article said he was running as a 'Pubbie. But it's late here and my acid reflux is giving me a devil of a time....DAGNABBIT.
Tancredo...
No problem.
He's a Dim though.
Yep.
He needs to amplify his message now.
RIGHT now.
