Blaming America First
Townhall ^ | 11/11/5 | Clifford D. May

We had gathered at the venerable University Philosophical Society of Trinity College, Dublin to debate the resolution: “This house believes that George W. Bush is a danger to world stability.”

But those tasked with defending the resolution were disinclined even to discuss what they clearly considered gross understatement. Instead, Patrick Cockburn, a British journalist, began by angrily accusing the United States of embarking upon an “old-fashioned imperial war' in Iraq and beyond.

As for terrorism, that he dismissed as “something people believe in like they believe in witchcraft. What does it mean?”

Though he was unsure of terrorism's definition, he harbored no doubts about who was responsible for it. President Bush, he said, “is not fighting terrorism, he is provoking it. That is the truth of the matter.” This brought vigorous applause from the students assembled in the stately hall.

Richard Downes, an Irish journalist, recited Humpty Dumpty. His point was that Iraq had been broken by Bush, whom he called a “maniacal egg killer.” This evoked gales of laughter.

He called the U.S. military “astonishingly incompetent.” Then he launched into a long story about an encounter he had once had with an African who believed the Irish smeared excrement (he used a more common term) on the walls of their homes. I think he was implying that people of one culture often misunderstand those of other cultures and that the Iraqis had been misunderstood by Bush and his ilk (though certainly not by enlightened people such as himself).

Craig J. Murray, formerly British ambassador to Uzbekistan, asserted that the crimes committed by that country's rulers are “subsidized by the government of George W. Bush.” Bush has done this, he said, for the benefit of Enron. The goal of Americans, he instructed the students, is to “get at the oil and gas so they can guzzle it.”

He added: “George Bush talks directly to God. He is the most dangerous religiously inspired fanatic in the world.” This, too, brought an enthusiastic ovation.

I will never understand these people, how blind can they really be? We didn't start this! As I've said before the only ones I've been apologizing to are our military men & women. I apologize for being so da*n ignorant about our enemy for the last 25 yrs. and allowing this to fester into WWIII. If they want to blame US then fine, blame US for being way too slow to take action.

The universal truism is that any event held in a "University" will spew liberal crap no matter the country. It a law of nature.

Oh, being Irish I was always told that in Ireland pigs were often kept in the house. The the crap on the walls quote is probably correct, they just would like to forget the recent past because they are so sophisticated.

Even more proof that leftists live in an alternate reality.

I suppose, like 911, the terrorist attack in London a few months ago never really happened?

Frankly it doesn't surprise me that the Euros would blame us first.

What does surprise my is the hyperbolic, intellectual incompetence of it in the face of their economic, political and moral impotence.

What is amusing is that they might think we are more than indiffererent to their foolish claims.

They fall into this category:
"They prefer not to remain silent and be thought a fool, rather to open their mouth and prove it."

In addition to these invited speakers, a number of students took the lectern to make supporting arguments. Among them was Chris, an American, who pleaded that “the current regime in America is not my America. Bush doesn't represent my America….We've lost our way.”

NO, you’re America is the one of Clinton’s steadily advancing socialism. Growing and increasing every year to eventually be a worker’s paradise of Communism.

Get a clue before it’s to late kid

If these losers on the stage get there way you will live in a three room apartment with three generations of your family, eat beans with every meal and work at the job the government invented for you whether you like it or not.

Well that's because they did.

Daub, a mixture of mud and animal manure, as in "Wattle and Daub" was an ancient construct material used in medieval times.

Plus, in more recent times, IRA terorists would smear their feces on the cell walls of the "H block" of the Maze Prison as a protest.

So I'd say the African was better informed than the moron who was ridiculing him.

That's okay.

The war is coming to them sooner or later.

They're going to have to choose sides and live with the consequences soon enough.

And the simple truth is they are much closer to loosing everything to the people that want to kill them than we are. They just haven't figured that out yet. They will.

Very possibly. And that fulfills a step in AQ's grand master plan too. Hope these socialist Irish and Brits enjoy their dhimmihood. Or deaths.

Socialism is evil and must be destroyed.

Given the sordid history of Communism during the 20th Century (the death toll made the Nazi genocides seem like a minor event in comparison), small wonder why we all hope Socialism should be cast into the dustbin of history soon.

I become more convinced every day that the Euros are racing headlong into oblivion. Every trend is negative, whether we are talking birthrate, economic growth, immigration, religious attendance, gay marriage, Palestine-worship, cultural pride, etc. While they fancy themselves "enlightened", the truth is that they hate themselves and the culture that spawned them. The only people they may hate more are fellow Westerners who still have a shred of vitality remaining. Like a man in a hurry to die, the deeper their grave, the faster they dig.

Mark my words, as the Muslims are burning their cities and slaughtering the last of their children, the Euros will go out cursing America for all their troubles.

Only on special occasions!
