DOVER, Pa. -- Pat Robertson had a special message for residents of Dover, Pa., today after voters there elected to boot the current school board, which instituted an intelligent design policy that led to a federal trial.
Robertson made the comment after Lee Webb of CBN News delivered a report on how residents in Dover voted in eight new Democratic board members, replacing all eight current members who had voted for a policy that required students in ninth-grade biology classes to hear a statement on intelligent design before hearing lessons on evolution. Webb then asked Robertson what he thought about the vote.
Here was Robertson's response.
"I'd like to say to the good citizens of Dover: If there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God, you just rejected him from your city. And don't wonder why he hasn't helped you when problems begin, if they begin. I'm not saying they will, but if they do, just remember, you just voted God out of your city. And if that's the case, don't ask for his help because he might not be there."

BTW -- in "answering" my post, you didn't answer any of my questions. Here -- I'll list them again. How about some straight answers?
1) Are you advocating the inclusion of ALL creation stories as equally valid in science class -- or just the one you believe in?
2) If just yours, then why exclude the others?
3) And what about all the alternative "theories" about gravity, electromagnetism, cosmology, astronomy, physics, chemistry, geology, etc.?
4) Do you accept Copernicanism, as modified by Kepler, Newton, etc.? Or do you stand with Luther and Calvin on the immovability of the Earth?
5) If you do not stand on the plain statements of the Bible in this regard [you DO know the Bible states repeatedly that the earth is immovable -- right?] -- are you not "rejecting God" and not allowing the alternative "theory?"
5) "Liars for the Lord," of course, say that ID has nothing to do with God or religion. Pat Robertson seems to believe it has everything to do with God and religion. What do you say?
There was a great bit on The Daily Show where they showed the map and concluded that God was out to punish, not the gays themselves, but the "gay-proximate". LOL!
Maybe he is trying to make this point. When things go wrong and you're not living right and busy voting for ungodliness, don't blame God for your problems and don't ask for His help unless you're willing to admit you're wrong and repent. In other words, don't jump in front of a Mac Truck traveling at a fast speed and expect not to die or suffer severe consequences. There is always a price to pay for sin.
Et vice versa.
And I'll bet that most of the people who criticize Christians for criticizing Robertson are the same ones who wonder why ordinary Muslims don't denounce the terrorist whack jobs among them.
"Don't pay any attention to what the critics say. No statue has ever been erected over a critic."
- Jean Sibelius
When their beliefs and thoughts are ridiculous, condemning and demeaning their stupidity is a natural response.
Are we "intolerant" for laughing at Mary Mapes and the DUmmies who still say that the Ratherscam memos are genuine?
<< Jesus told the disciples to wipe the dust from their shoes when they left a town that rejected the Gospel. I think when a person or society (and here is the key) OPENLY WITH FORETHOUGHT AND DELIBERATE ACTION reject God, then I think it very possible that God removes any hand of protection on them. >>
So -- again -- voting out liars and perjurers about a "theory" that claims not to have anything to do with Jesus, God, or the gospel -- is the equivalent of OPENLY WITH FORETHOUGHT AND DELIBERATE ACTION "rejecting God?" That is a leap of logic of Grand Canyon proportions!
<< More and more, Americans just do not want to hear anything about God's RIGHTEOUSNESS or His JUSTICE, or (God forbid) His WRATH. >>
But the IDers have told us again and again that this is not about those things. Who is lying about this -- you or the IDers?
<< The God of the Christians is indeed a loving and forgiving God. But He is by His very nature a God of justice, and that means He WILL JUDGE SIN. >>
Hank loves you, too. And if you kiss his feet, you'll get a million dollars. But be warned -- if you don't, he'll beat the crap out of you. I still can't see all that much difference between my "gospel" and yours.
<< I get sick of everyone jumping his case every time he says something. >>
False to fact. Not everyone jumped his case. And -- we jump his case when he says something so patently moronic -- not every time he says anything.
<< AMAZING THAT WE NEVER HEARD THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA CONDEMN GOOD OLE LOUIS FARAKHAN RECENTLY WHEN HE SAID HE HAD BEEN BEAMED UP INTO A UFO. >>
Red Herring. It was reported, just as this nonsense from Robertson was reported. And we condemned GOOD OLE LUISE just as we are condemning GOOD OLE PAT. Why? For making such stupid statements. Entirely consistent.
>A strange man. Harmless, but strange....<
A rarity of a man, I'd say. A Biblical man. Read Ezekiel.
He's off his bloody gob. Who the hell his he to say such things? Who died and made him the Great Judge and Arbiter?
I didn't say they rejected the Gospel. I stated plainly that the reference from the N.T. re: the shoes was an "indirect" precedent.
Sorry, but intelligent design by it's own DEFINITTION refers to an intelligence behind creation...Yes, GOD.
<< Maybe he is trying to make this point. When things go wrong and you're not living right and busy voting for ungodliness, don't blame God for your problems and don't ask for His help unless you're willing to admit you're wrong and repent. >>
And he applied that point directly to Dover, right? So -- according to you and Pat -- voting out the liars/perjurers who said that ID had nothing to do with God or religion is equivalent to "not living right and...voting for ungodliness." Interesting logic.
I would think the logic would apply better to those liars/perjurers, and those supporting them, not the ones who voted them out. AND -- perhaps you were not aware of it, but the slate of candidates that won [which consisted of four dems and four repubs] has stated publicly that ID should be allowed in school -- but not in science class.
"Voting for ungodliness" -- good grief! I cannot believe the extremes people will go to in order to defend "Liars for the Lord."
<He has a ton of money, so he doesn't quite meet the criteria in the poverty and chastity departments.<
God blesses those who do His will. They are meant to "pay it forward", and Pat Robertson certainly does that bigtime. God wants His obedient children to prosper. Why don't you try it? It works! (Chastity? What kind of gossip are you stooping to, kalee?)
Sorry, but the MAINSTREAM MEDIA did NOT report Loius' UFO story. Maybe Fox, that's about it.
As for the rest of your post, it doesn't even deserve comment. It's moronic.
Seems to me that I remember something like that happened in the French Revolution. The French rejected God and look where they are now. God doesn't force Himself on anyone; why should He go where He's not wanted. I agree.
<< Sorry, but intelligent design by it's own DEFINITTION refers to an intelligence behind creation...Yes, GOD. >>
Actually -- one of them said on the stand, under oath, that that it could just as logically have been space aliens, and that if God had anything to do with it, it was "back in the day" [billions of years ago and not anymore], and that "God may be dead now." Is this what you mean by "by it's [sic] own DEFINITTION [sic]"?
And if it has to be "GOD" -- then you agree that all these people who keep denying this are just bullsh**ing us -- right? Glad to have you on our side.
I think Pat is being a bit too honest for most ID folks.
