The latest Rasmussen Reports survey shows that Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum is continuing to lose ground in his battle for re-election. Santorum trails Democrat Bob Casey, Jr by twenty percentage points, 54% to 34%.
I wonder if Bush ever intends to fight the lies, or does he just think he can sit there and watch it all go to pot.
not in politics.....win at all costs is their mantra
He has my PA. vote.
I don't trust polls.
Pretty conservative senator, has trouble with moderates, made a mistake so the "true" conservatives abandon him.
Why anybody would want to appeal to the "true" conservatives is a mystery, they are very fickle.
As I tell my buddies here in virginia -- if you run people in the primary and beat an incumbent, you better show up on election day to put him in office. They stayed home because they were mad at Bush, or didn't like Kilgore's tax cut, or some other problem they had with someone not being perfect.
And we lost a good conservative incumbent, and a good conservative candidate who had knocked off an incumbent int he primary, and another good conservative candidate who was running in a district which was republican but the rep had retired.
OK, so in two cases the former incumbent republican endorsed the democrats. That doesn't help. But we can't just stay home because we are mad, we need to show up to vote for the conservatives in the race. Baby with the bath water, and all that.
Think Toomey could step in if Santorum stepped out? Why are we saying we should throw Santorum overboard because he isn't polling well? Think any candidate can beat Casey OTHER than a sitting incumbent in the majority party who has the number 3 position of power?
The only way Santorum replacement could win if he is a moderate pro-choice republican who might get some crossover pro-choice votes who are mad about Casey being pro-life. Is THAT what we want.
Hey, rejoice -- the only way the Democrats win elections is to run "almost-republicans". Casey would be our DREAM candidate against Chaffee in Rhode Island.
I honestly think Bush is so sidetracked with all that is going on that he is almost paralyzed......and Rove is just twiddling his thumbs.....I'm so very disappointed in Bush at this point.....
>>>The Casey name is still popular in PA. Bob Sr was a very popular governor.<<<
That was then this is now. Bob Casey was revered in PA for being prolife all the way down the line.
His brat is not 100% prolife.
This will all be hashed out before the primary.
And I am certain you are a moby/democrat seminar poster.
Funny how you don't say anything about the democrats, only about that "evil" Santorum.
But go ahead and post, you guys are outing yourselves, see this thread for proof, especially replies #190-196.
Santorum got sand-bagged by Bush into going against Toomey. The question is what can he do to show up Casey as no-chap off the old block? Casey has to be drawn out on other issues to show that he is, apart from abortion, a liberal Democrat,m and even on the issue of abortion, a hypocrite. Bet if he were pushed he would sound something like Cuomo. Santorum has to push him into a corner and do it early to strip away the pro-lifers who cotton to him.
"he threw Toomey under the bus. "
"He's lost a lot of the right"
Whatever right he had left was lost when he endorsed the Specter of magic bullets.
LOL, well maybe I will get over being TAXED TO DEATH by Republican governments here in Texas, but I kinda doubt it.
I suspect that Csaey is a Cuomo type liberal. He dares not come down too solidly on the side of pro-life or he will lose Phialdelphia.
But would not Casey vote FOR all of these as well?
As for the stock tip, hang on I'll call my son and see what he says...now don't go anywhere. I'll be back in a flash with that information. :0)
Toomey was not a "RINO lackey"; he's a strong conservative (and it was Santorum that supported RINO Specter when he was up for re-election).
Also, your criteria for a good candidate is that they be despised by gays and Dems? Talk about narrow-minded. And your calling ME a loser.
Then why do almost every voter polled support a pro-life candidate (at least nominally) for the US Senate?
Pennsylvania is a socially conservative state, both Democrats and Republicans, despite the MontCo libs.
Toomey ran a lousy campaign out here in the hinterlands of PA. No one even knew who the hell he was. His campaign advisers were mentally challenged to run him only in Pittsburgh and Philly. It was a dismal mockery of a campaign.
Santorum has the big bucks and will run a vigorous campaign.
All you Dem seminar posters should just fold your tents and slink off into the night with your wet dreams about Casey.
Sorry. I was unaware people who take their religious faith seriously take home their miscarried fetuses to cuddle and show it to their other children.
How many people think it is really realistic to expect the junior senator from a state to not support the senior senator's re-election? (When both are from the same party, that is.)
