Paris police fear rioters' heavy arms (French fear muslim guns and grenades)
THE WASHINGTON TIMES ^ | November 7, 2005 | Jennifer Joan Lee

PARIS -- Police officers, exhausted and dispirited after 11 nights of street battles, say their mainly young African and Arab adversaries have access to sophisticated weapons including grenades and could soon begin using them. A dozen officers were injured, two of them seriously, after being shot with hunting rifles fitted with lead pellets during rioting last night in the suburb of Grigny, south of Paris, police said. Jean-Christophe Carne, president of a police trade union, told The Washington Times before last night's outbreak that police officers were increasingly pessimistic that civic order would be restored anytime soon. "Most of these kids are being coached by professional petty criminals and gang leaders in the suburbs," said Mr. Carne, president of Action Police CFTC. "In the past, when we have cracked down on these criminals in their homes, we found drugs, grenades and heavy weapons such as guns. While they haven't started using these arms yet, there's also no reason to think they wouldn't."

I'm sure we could spare a few troops from Iraq to bring the French up to speed on urban combat.

Oh please. Don't give the idiots in D.C. any ideas.

That is a riot. Let France live under Sharia for a few years an then go save their butts again. But unfortunately they'll still be arrogant.

Whose cars are they burning? Their neighbors? Burning cars like that is irrelevant.

Maybe the French need to build a security fence.

No, unfortunately they don't. Chirac and Villepain are depending on arab mullahs to calm things down. Fat chance of that happening.

I won't be surprised if Le Pen wins the next election by a considerable margin.

What unilaterally, without security council approval? You must be joking. Surely everyone would threaten a veto.

The French troops would have to come to our trainer's training area - Iraq.

If they'll come to Iraq for training, maybe.

Maybe not...

Israel advising the French to act with restraint - that is too funny!

compare what's happening in france to what happened in N'awlins after katrina..those neighborhoods in N'awlins that made a show of force..i.e., armed neighbors protecting their property didn't have a problem with looting..some looters that decided to test the waters soon had a dirt nap delivered to them..and their friends beat a hasty retreat..

in paris, no one is protecting themselves..they're all looking to a chickensh*t gov't to bail them out..thus the cars continuously are burned..the police are being shot at, innocent bystanders being mained and/or killed..

Forget France. Let them enjoy the heat from their suicidal immigration policies. We should learn something here.

Why should the police be exhausted? From everything I have read their main plan is to do nothing and let the Muslims burn and destroy until they are tired of it. Maybe 11 continuous nights of running with their hands above their heads has worn them out.

I imagine there are a few WWII era Stens, Mausers, MP-40's. Lugers, Walthers and MG-34/42's laying in well oiled flowerbeds throughout the French countryside.

If the French showed any more restraint, they would have to surrender. (As if they haven't already.)
