WHEN SENATE MINORITY LEADER HARRY Reid abruptly took the Senate into closed session last Tuesday, he sought to portray the move as a desperate, last-ditch attempt to force intransigent Senate Republicans to complete the second phase of an investigation into the use of intelligence before the Iraq war. The procedural move is rare, one of the few things a minority party can do to seize the agenda--and the spotlight--from the Senate's majority.
After he called the Senate into closed session, a red-faced Reid sputtered his way through a press conference. "Finally after months and months and months of begging, cajoling, writing letters we're finally going to be able to have phase two of the investigation regarding how the intelligence was used to lead us into the intractable war in Iraq," he proclaimed, shortly before shouting down a reporter in mid-question.
He was just getting started.

Appears the liberal dims know full well that their counterparts the Republicans, are not going to investigate who initiated this Wilson affair from way back in Feb. of 2002. (A short 6 months after 9/11/01)
Democrats became irrational over their 2000 election loss to President Bush, and they have never recovered from it. They remain convinced the election was stolen from them and they cannot believe the rest of the country is too ignorant to understand their superior intellect and position on it.
They tried to portray George W. Bush as less intelligent and a dimwit, and they cannot fathom Bush winning over them. In other words, they believed their own propaganda even when they knew it to be a lie.
What is really funny is after getting their butts handed them in 2002 and 2004, they are going to run the same Hate American 1st campaign again in 2006! Truly the Democrat Leadership is stuck on STUPID.
Close, but IMHO, to goes nack to 1994. The Dems controlled the Congress for decades. They had the power of the puse..to allocate the public $$ to their special interest groups. As long as they held the Congress, they didn't care that much about the WH...the old bull Dems want the congressional power back. Consider charlie Rangel and John Vonyers, who are both now certifiable. Rangel wants to be the Chair of the Ways and Means..he knows he'll never get it..and he is bitter..
Dingy's Senate stunt was timed to deflect attention away from the Alito nomination. Democrats knew fairly quickly that Alito would ultimately be confirmed - something the democrat base would go rip-ship over. Bush would go 2 fer 2.
By going back to the anti-war carping section of the democrat playbook, Dingy changed the subject and appeased the hardcore leftwing base. At least temporarilly.
This is an absolutely true statement. I hope the administration is listening. There is nothing to fear with going public and fighting back. The facts are all on the side of the White House. I hope the "new tone" does not include an unwillingness to face down those who are trying to destroy you, for that is what these dems are trying to do and it has become an issue of national security.
Additionally, the Republican Party needs a new "Manifesto" that is SHORT, TO THE POINT and concisely list the usual honorable objectives including the "war" against all who seek to destroy the things we free people cherish.
Additionally, a subtext, to the above Manifesto, is needed to describe the defensive and offensive programs being executed to protect this nation.
Agreed. The Dems are using the same playbook, hoping for a different outcome.
I agree with you on the changeover from the 1994 election, but the outrage over Bush has a life of its own. They want back in power but their lack of sanity has progressed proportionally with the loss to Bush in 2000. Add in, they have lost all the midterm elections, which had not happened for some time, and they really are beside themselves.
Concur..we're on the same wavelength..My point was that Congressional Dems were comfortable "dealing" with Reagan and Bush 1..their ricebowl was still intact...The venom against the current President Bush is driven by the far left/wacko groups, and the Congressional dems are trying to ride that wave , or get buried by it..remember, Reid, Clinton, Byrd, et al speaking at the MoveOn presser some months back..the "problem" for the Dems is that the leadership does NOT control the party..
Actually they are so self superior that they believe that they naturally have the right to rule whether in the majority or not.
-"They've done nothing, nothing substantive. And that's been the problem. Nothing substantive."-
Translation: They've provided us with nothing with which to impeach GWB! Nothing!!
They will achieve their goal.
Bush will NOT be re-elected.
Like a rooster who thinks his crowing caused the sunrise, the Libs are thinking their whining will be the cause of Bush leaving the WH.
I agree, there is no way we can nominate such damaged goods for President ever again! The Democrats have entirely wiped out GWB's chances to run again!
It didn't. Libs are complete POS. I want their party destroyed.
Ooohhhhh those wascawwy Wepublicans. They took statements and put them on a timeline. But they didn't attribute the statements. Of course, many of the statements were being made by Democrats, some of whom are now saying the opposite of what they said earlier - and now while accusing the Bush Administration of LYING! And they're livid! Ya just gotta love it!
Me too, I can't rest until it happens.
Eleanor Clift was on the McLaughlin Group last night talking impeachment. Scared the crap outta me. What is the liklihood of this?
"It didn't. Libs are complete POS. I want their party destroyed."
I agree and they are like Dracula contantly rising from the grave. We need to take their current treasonous activity and use it like a stake to drive in their heart to kill them off for good.
