More apologists have surfaced than arrests have been made.

"If you want authority over these kids you need their respect - "

Troops + curfew + shoot to kill orders = immediate respect

Identification of the participants and the elimination of their housing and welfare checks would go a long way to stopping this crap in the long run.

The French government has given tacit approval to let this continue.

The thugs have already won.

They feel neglected

So why don't they go back home again where they'll feel wanted?

Loss of moral authority? Cry me a river. These idiots don't need an excuse to riot. They just need a venue. That "the religion of peace" is spreading its filth and waging its war in France is almost as amusing as it is ironic. No doubt Bush will soon be blamed just before we are asked to once again bail France's ass out of the fire. In the meantime, let the muslims burn down their own neighborhoods. If the war on terror must shift to the Paris suburbs, our job will be that much easier if most of the country has already been reduced to ash.

Gee... maybe inviting all those immigrants to settle in France wasn't such a good idea after all.

What a dumb article. The whole thing was about how they had to open some sort of "dialogue" with the rioters thorugh mediators. Except for the fact that the police are trying to prevent crime in the high crime suburban areas, using reasonable means this is all just a bunch of nothing. The reality behind the fog of political correctness is probably Islam vs France.

Will the french get the balls and call out the military? I don't think so, not until the government itself is threatened by the rioters. This will happen soon, however.

Sounds to me like Villepin thinks his middle name is Giuliani, but he's getting no support from any of his cronies. I'm sure the bourgeois bureaucracy just want to surrender -- to someone, anyone! -- and get it over with. Then they can pat themselves on the back about how they "saved Paris" again.

Maybe snooty Liberals will stop telling us we have to raise taxes in the US so we can be more like France.

If the French continue to treat this like a simple civil disobedience issue, expect to read how it has spread from one suburb to 20 and then to Marsielles and Lyon and beyond over the next week.

There are enough muslims in France to make a nifty intafahda by next year if they continue to organize like it appears to be happening.
